Asking how long it takes to finish a cert is the wrong question to ask w/r/t getting a developer job. Do you have demonstratable skills writing Apex/Javascript, as in a GitHub repo you could show a hiring manager, for functionality you can demo live? Bonus - Have you done any leetcode? CompSci degree? Prior software engineering experience?
PD1 isn't evidence of an ability to code, and there's no guarantee you didn't cheat to pass PD2/JS, and even if you did it's not a substitute for a degree or experience, except for very junior-level jobs.
Why did the bowl leader pin this of all things?
Because I think it's an interesting discussion topic and that others might be interested? We are advised to keep something pinned at all times, so I try to promote things that go beyond the typical referral request stuff and rise above the stupid engagement bait posts that may or may not be sourced from Glassdoor (Fishbowl's owner) themselves.
Finishing the cert would be quarter of the battle. Are looking to be an Apex developer or would you be involved more in the point and click development? Have you ever implemented anything? At your current job are you working in SF? Do you code any programming languages currently? I've worked with developers that had multiple programming languages under their belt, several certifications and have been implementing SF organizations for several years, but still not meet the mark for hiring at the company I work for. The question is not an easy answer. If your a driven individual and willing to put in work and I mean continuous work it may be a good switch for you.
