Don’t choose accounting 😂

Public accounting Audit and tax lines of service won’t hire you as those require an accounting bachelors. But you can apply for all the consulting jobs including IT audit.
As a plus, consulting makes way more than tax and audit.
At BDO, our Tax team will accept people who have finance degrees. However, like RSM 1 stated, assurance will not.
Don’t. Accounting in a nutshell: Peanut salary and above average work hours.
A smaller boutique firm might be open to you. My former firm hired a few econ grads and one finance grad. They want to know if you’d pursue the cpa license so put that you’re pursuing it maybe?
Agreed. I worked with someone without an accounting degree but was CPA-eligible. An accounting degree would be ideal as firms recruit mainly from schools but that's not the only way if your network can get you in.
If you want to go into tax/audit you can still apply and land an entry level role. Contrary to RSM1, you have a business-related degree and that’s all you need from a schooling perspective. Not all schools offer accounting programs and firms know that.
I’m in transaction advisory. You won’t see a lot of hired with no experience but you can look. I feel like having a finance degree wouldn’t hinder you.
Have you tried FP&A roles?
MBA or masters in accounting
Valuation roles may be good for you. Its a mix of finance and accounting, and those who enjoy / understand accounting often are more successful
Temp jobs and “fake til you make it.” Make sure you’re spinning/stretching your skills/experience as best you can. I’ve rewritten the oldest experiences on my resume several times. The bots can’t analyze transferable skills, only the script. And just like your professors, the recruiters and hiring managers probably didn’t work in the field. The recruiters are basically salespeople, so it can help to just get them on your side and talking to employers. Just make sure they’re not also selling you on a “lemon” company/role.
Go finance or advisor role
