The Gold is great for every day spend because of the multipliers on groceries and restaurants. If your primary airport has a Centurion Lounge then the Platinum could be worth it, but it still sounds like you don't travel enough to justify the fee.
Both the AMEX platinum and gold offer credits to offset the annual fee. The annual fees are essentially prepayments for the benefits you will utilize throughout the year. You need to look at the credits for each card and evaluate whether or not you would organically use those credits. Then you can calculate the effective annual fee.
If you want to stay in the Chase ecosystem, considering getting the Freedom Unlimited for everyday spend, and maybe upgrading to the CSR for lounge access, better protections,
and better multipliers.
Look at 10xtravel. They have a best cards list.
Agreed. It’s also important to sequence cards correctly given the 5/24 rule. Take the free 10x course, it’s well worth it.
I have 150k MR referral for the platinum if interested. PM me.
I just got the plat and looking at the gold. If you use them correctly it will offset all the annual fees and you might gain some. Pretty good experience with the plat so far
Chase Freedom Unlimited pairs well with the CSP. Earns 1.5 UR per $ on non-rotating category spend and 5 on categories (AFAIK).
Personally I don’t see the worth of the Amex Platinum; with my personal spend patterns I’d go for the EveryDay Preferred over the Gold (more supermarket spend than dining).
Also considering the Cap One Venture X and Citi Premiere card per TPG.
I like the Amex Delta Platinum (lower fee but you get access to the Delta lounges, which is nice...between this and the Priority Pass I feel set); I looked into the Delta Platinum but too many of the benefits overlap with the Chase Sapphire Preferred that I don't think I could justify both annual fees. You can transfer Chase Sapphire Preferred points to Delta miles and then use your miles to book travel with the Amex Delta Platinum card (also, they always upgrade me on flights). I use the Chase Sapphire Points for hotels and car rentals for the few big trips we take a year. Between these two cards, I feel like I am set when I travel.
