Hi I've joined Harman in May but hasn't been assigned to any project yet. I've asked hr and reporting manager they said they're working on it and there's nothing to be worried about However I just want to know if there's anything I should be concerned about what's the bench policy? Need some advice here. I am a fullstack developer with 5 yoe in Angular and Python. My aim is to crack FAANG companies. Now I got an offer from HSBC in a credit risk model monitoring role using Python. It is close to a data engineer role.
My question is that will it be a good idea to shift from development role to a model monitoring role if I want to move to FAANG in the future?Or does FAANG not prefer people who are not in core development roles?Amazon Microsoft Google Adobe PwC EY Citi Barclays JPMorgan Chase

In my opinion, better to move internally for AWS profile(Cloud/devops/consultant) and gain some experience and then switch..I know it's like an itch to switch at 3 years(also, market is hot and the current pay is also less) but you will have to gain some exp..get it atleast for 7-8 months and then try, you will definitely get something good because there is still some gap in cloud skills in the market.
Bottomline is getting moved internally with only basic knowledge is easier rather than trying to switch (as mostly companies like to pay for your experience and not want to teach you from scratch (unless you are a fresher)).
Thanks for your valuable advise appreciate it🤝
Thank you very much I was thinking the same
+1 to DE1.
Certification knowledge is way different than what you gain through Hands-on. Better to move internally and try after half a year.
Well certifications won't earn you jobs. Answer to their questions will.
What will be the other way any idea?
To actually be truthful to the interviewers or prepare very well in the technology that is easier to crack. You need not choose the one that pays well. Your poverty story won't fetch you a single opportunity outside. You could be bill gates and still switch. It doesn't matter.
Thanks
