It’s likely he may not remember you or that he was a jerk. You will be able to tell if he recognizes you when you meet up, if so just smile and say nice to see you again!
Avoidance just gets awkward. I’d go straight at it. I once interviewed with an ECD who was a bit off when answering my questions. Not rude, just terse. Six months later, he’s announced at a new gig with the agency I ended-up going to, because I passed on the job I interviewed with him. And he was one of the nicest and most giving individuals I’ve met in the industry. Turns out, his departure was already in the works. But he couldn’t say anything. And didn’t want to mislead me. So maybe there’s a backstory. Or maybe this guy’s really a jerk, and you won’t get the job. But don’t be meek about it.
All good points. I’ll embrace the awkward and hope second times the charm.
Don’t pretend you don’t remember him...no one likes being forgotten, but people do like being remembered. He might have just been having a bad day and you should def give it another shot with him
Or maybe he had a really bad day. Lord knows I’ve had one-off interactions with people I just met I wouldn’t want to be judged by.
@freelance 1 - that’s a great story and encouraging to think maybe there will be a positive outcome. Thanks!
Odd are the director won’t remember you so don’t say anything. If he does, act happily surprised, “oh, that’s right!"
