I just made my first investment! I’m 25, a grad student, and bought 1 share of VTI. I’ve been feeling super behind financially/investing-wise, but today I feel a little bit better. ☺️

As how cute is this post!?

Congratulations! I get the feeling that’ll be one of many many investments and 💰 you’ll be making. Add every free cent you can and you’ll be a millionaire befor you know it!

Thank you! The Simple Path to Wealth really sold me on “set it and forget it” with Vanguard’s index funds & ETFs. Im excited to keep adding more to my Roth.

And yes those EFs are so important! Found that out today when I had an emergency vet visit for my kitten. A year ago, that would’ve wrecked me financially; not today!

like

Congrats!

Best decision I made investment wise was setting a portion of my paycheck direct deposit to Vanguard for an auto investment. I’d encourage you to do the same! One share of VTI each paycheck adds up and you won’t notice it as much if it doesn’t hit your bank account.

like

lol as soon as I actually have a paycheck, this is absolutely the plan!! And more!

Nice job! It’s slow and steady the first bit of the journey but you’ve started.

Congrats! I also bought my first share of stock this year (in September)!

It felt like a HUGE move at the time, and now I have $15500 that I put into the market in the last few months. Crossing fingers I’m making the right investment decisions. I’m up 1k so far 🤞🏻

It’s been hard during my 18 month masters, so I can only imagine it was even worse during your PhD. Good luck!

Congrats! I was in the same boat and taking the first step felt empowering.
