I keep being promised a promotion. Last year I was told it would be this year and then I worked really hard to perform well, put in extra hours, and all that and today they tell me that the budget does not permit a raise but I could get a title bump by end of year. WTH? I'm just absolutely shocked. I was not expecting this.

Don't ever believe what your superiors tell you in regard to raise, bonus, promotion unless it's in a signed contract that would hold up in court. Sorry that you are surprised by this but it happens all the time.

like

Get out of there , they have the budget . They just got away with it before so why not do it again , run you’ll end up making more where ever you end up, take all the energy and commitment you put into your job now and put it 💯 into finding a new & better path. They are never going to change.

It happens to everybody! How long has somebody waited around for that promotion to come and it never did? I’m sorry to say it was more than a year in my case.

I had a similar situation where I was promised a promotion for 12 months. By month 12, I left with a Title bump and a 44% salary increase.. wouldn't stick around after that.
