I launched my own production consultancy a lil while back. Part rep shop/part production co. Taking on projects that could provide value to agency and brands. Things like micro websites, web apps, online ads. We’ve even taken on some video projects for agency case studies. Keeps the lights on. Wondering if anyone has any recommendations for getting a better quality pipeline of projects? Preferably direct to small brand clients. Any tools you might recommend? HubSpot inbound make any difference?

Are you repping directors? I think I’d love to understand the model a little more but I do production company sales and would welcome a chat to even kick around some ideas. Feel free to dm me if you’d like to connect. Our company works with agencies and brands. Most of our approach is cold and warm outreach. Kind of old school
Sales but it’s hard to get management interested in spending money on automated marketing or content marketing. Both things that I believe can work even if it’s just softening the ground for cold outreach.

My partner told me that he's emotionally hurt by our arguments/bickering (which happen often, lately). What does that mean? We've been working on stuff and I thought it was going well, but apparently not well enough. He's been withdrawn and I feel like he doesn't care about our relationship. He days he does, but I don't see it. I'm thinking of just taking break. It's so difficult to figure out what his problem is, and I feel like I'm doing too much of the emotional labor for him.

Hello! Curious if anyone has any thoughts on new year new business resolutions. Maybe it’s the fact that 2020 sucks but I’m already planning for the new year. I’m going to try and schedule time better for outreach and social media marketing. I tend to be too reactionary with my time.


How do other agencies structure salaries and commissions for new business directors? What commission rate?


So I'm at an agency and 80%+ of my time is new business. Pitch, win, set-up/semi-service until we get hires, move on to next pitch etc. (w/ fair share of losses too, of course). But I'm burned out. And while I'm valued, I don't see a return on my investments: personal time, my heart (I'm all in) and professional development. I get rewarded with small spot bonuses sometimes, but not a commission. So do I try to pivot to a real bus dev position? I feel confident I could. Anyone seen this done?


What are you doing to drive inbound? How are you marketing your agency? Or do you?

Say we’ve got a pitch in 3 weeks. What’s a typical fee for a freelance strategist to lead the strategy and work with the team to build the deck? How much would they make in that gig?


I’ve been working on a pitch that continues to get delayed and it’s poorly managed. The RFI was due in July. Then days AFTER submission I received an email from the consultant saying we now had until August. End of September rolls around and frankly I had forgotten about this 100-page beast. They want a meet and greet….the following week. The day before the meet and greet we get a list of questions (that aren’t easy softballs). Now 2 weeks later and nothing. What a gross feeling this process is
