Get a job.
There are plenty of Project/Program Analysts Opportunities in the DMV area! Aside from DoD, have you checked out any contracting agencies like Booz Allen?
Start building your resume now. Get other people to review it. It is just like in the military your ERB, NCOER, OER, and ETC will speak for you louder. This is your first impression on those you are seeking to gain that opportunity from. Also try not to use to much military terminology when speaking in an interview. Even through we have done similar things it will be hard for most people to understand your value and your potential you offer if it isn’t in layman terms. That just my opinion. I’m sure other have had different experiences but these are a few things I ran into when I got the military.
Start looking for skillbridge in the field you want to work in so you can get a job right away hopefully from your internship. Also, take the entire 6 months so you can get accustomed to civilian life.
Great job! Consider SkillsBridge and apply for several to experience different opportunities. This will help educate you about mission requirements of the companies, personalities of your organization and how you feel about the hours they are offering.
If your time in the service related to a particular type of equipment or vehicle, working at a defense company on a team that builds or maintains that technology would give you a good edge. For example, I have a program manager that used to fly and EC-130 in the military and is now working in the business area that maintains them. Having that perspective is invaluable to companies.
Use Hire Heroes to create your resume. Build a Linkedin now. It's about how you buddy not really how you study unfortunately.
Lots of information left out, what’s your career field in the military, do you want to stay in that field? What’s your degree in, does it enhance or contrast your military speciality?
Don’t be afraid to pay for professional resume writing services if this isn’t your forte, $400 dollars is a small price to pay for a high 5-6 figure job depending on your skills/experience.
Look at USA jobs. There are tons of great jobs there if you're looking for stability!
