Not at McKinsey, but generally speaking if you made it to interview 2, they DO want to talk to you. Don’t stress, be yourself, and be prepared. You’re gonna nail it. Good luck!!
I feel like if you truly bombed it they would have found a reason to cancel it. Just ace the second one! Be memorable and stand out!
If you completely bombed interview one but left an amazing impression with interview two you still have a chance but a lot slimmer but still have a chance. Keep you head up you got this! 👊
Thank you!! I appreciate the thoughtful guidance.
It’s a chance of redemption! Prep questions, make it clear you’re looking for a place to put roots in an grow. Look up company details, do you align with their mission statement? Bring that up. Ask them why they are in their positions. Ask them where they see the department in 5 years and how your role will fit into that. Even if interview 2 is required, it’s still another chance for you to show your stuff.
Def agree with mission statement! I mentioned it to one company I interviewed with and they were extremely surprised about it and literally said I’m so glad you brought it up because not many people I’ve interviewed mentioned it or knows it but this is what we stand for
You probably didn’t bomb as badly as you think
Well uhh good luck on round 2 I guess…
re-frame it to a 'meeting' inside your head, rather than an interview- ask KILLER questions and you'll nail it. I just landed a 140k package with no degree and one year experience (lots of other translatable jobs project management etc) transfer the *F out of your skills - i honestly think my good questions and overall enthusiasm/thank you emails got me the job.
What sort of killer questions do you ask? Can you please elaborate and provide examples?
