I recently left my company and used remaining FSA funds to pay off a medical bill via the debit card. When I submitted substantiation, it was denied. Do I need to worry about this? I don't mind paying tax on the money used, but really can't afford to repay it right now. Has anyone else been in this situation? As far as I can tell, they will just shut the card off and possibly add the unsubstantiated amount to gross income on my W2.
