90% utilization with 300+ hours of impactful PRDs. Have snapshots of every work I did this year. Can I expect rating of 1?
How hard should you actually work in consulting? Obviously we have utilization requirements so we work long hours but I’m tired of giving 100% of my brain power. Is there any benefit of working harder? IMO there’s an incentive to work slower
Why is it that anytime I’ve gotten on a proposal, those asking for help have given me a non-billable code? Is that time counting towards my utilization or am I missing something?
Anyone here utilized an early professional mortgage? I’ve seen a few banks that offer them to attorneys, CPAs, etc that are looking to buy a home with low down payment. Just want to know what the catch is (obviously there has to be one but it’s not apparent from the websites). See link below for an example from Cadence Bank. BBVA does these as well. https://cadencebank.com/personal/mortgages/early-professionals-loan-program
Hi all, I’m looking to move in a mid size audit firm (RSM, GT other..). I am promoted to S2 in Big4. How are the hours in audit financial services ? Is it slightly better ? I’m utilized > 100% all year, averaging 60hr.
If our target utilization rate is 95% what is the actual rate wherein less than that, the firm actually lost money on me?
Hi Bain 🐠, how does utilization look like for AAG guys? Any distinction in terms of Marketing Science and Data Science? Which one will give you more mileage, exposure, in your opinion?
Is utilization less important if the firm simply cannot sell enough projects to staff people on?
How do you calculate your utilization and what % threshold is the goal for each level (audit) ?
Utilization rate this time of year?

My utilization is 90% but all of my clients are small jobs. Does that look worse than someone who works on the larger, higher revenue generating jobs with all else equal (utilization/performance)?
How do I say to my counselor, "be prepared to see a big fall of my utilization because of things out of my control" without sounding like complaining or having a lot of negativity?
Getting expertise in python/sql/R which is nice for my utilization but I really don’t want a career of coding/IT. Should I just omit these when I look for new opportunities?
Hey managers and above, does anyone evaluate/look at utilization at the beginning of the fiscal year for staff and seniors? Or does it get evaluated only near end of year? Curious to know...
My effective utilization since 10/1 is 158.3%. If my counselor asks me why I didn’t achieve my lead goals this cycle I’m gonna flip a table.
I’ve been working hard this year, but I’m concerned I won’t get a promotion at the end of the year due to covid (we’ve had severe pay cuts/furloughs at our company). Any advice?
USDC all hands thread!
Is to possible for those counselled out from MBB to make their way back? Particularly at the junior level, so counselled out as an analyst then boomerang back at the consultant level
Any mom's here who remember their first trimester? Anything you stopped doing, eating or drinking? Obviously the basics like alcohol, smoking, caffeine, raw seafood, flaxseed, rosemary, etc. Family is very cautious is driving me insane. Between covid restrictions and baby restrictions, I feel like I'm in jail. Suburban cycling ban and all-bran are the latest drama.
At kpmg, we get per diem $50-70 a day and we keep it whether we spend it or not. At other Big 4 I heard y’all get actuals? So if you get $50 for dinner, are people actually eating fancy dinners daily?
There is a requirement in my team for a fresher MBA Graduate who can join immediately. Aggregate should be above 80% (CGPA > 8). Preferably familiar with or at least aware of basics of structured problem solving. Please DM or comment if you have any potential leads. Thanks, in advance.
Hi Ladies, I was impacted by the COVID-19 layoffs a few weeks ago and let go from my job at Deloitte. I have 2 years experience as an IT Auditor with the big 4 and I am in search of a new job. I’m currently residing in Atlanta Any recommendations on where to apply would be greatly appreciated.
Considering an expert role in healthcare in mid Atlantic region at McKinsey. Any thoughts about culture, wlb, tc, etc? Have read through a bunch of older threads. Opinion seems mixed. Negatives mentioned include more intense work hours than integrative track, second class citizen, slower career progression, lower pay than integrative, harder to get staffed on engagements, poor integration into teams, and subpar exit opportunities. Also read this is changing. Would appreciate recent thoughts. 🙏

Hello from Sydney! We've been locked down for 5 weeks and due to be locked down for at least another four due to COVID. What did you do to stay sane when you were under stay at home orders? I'm exercising daily, trying to cook something new each week, practicing the piano. Just in a mental slump and feel so sluggish and demotivated, struggling to get excited about anything these days.
Been hearing that total comp for new ACN MDs is something like $300k. Is that accurate? Any ideas how it changes over time? Seems low to me....
Started about 8 months ago from another firm but already interviewing for industry roles. Is it worth sticking it out for a few more months? For more context, I have about 5 years exp, all consulting
Just had breakfast at TFG DFW and can't help but appreciate the meals at EY learning week from last week in Chicago.
Can anyone give insight to typical hiring process for Microsoft corporate functions, specifically for an HR Program Manager role? Salary ranges would be extremely helpful as well!
Feeling like my firm has a very outdated parental leave policy (and none of the women partners have children)! What is the parental leave policy at your firm? Please include: (1) size of firm; (2) location of firm (city, state); (3) how many paid weeks off from firm (not state/fed benefits); (4) other policies such as ramp up/down time, etc.
Had lower utilization this year than normal due to being rolled off and on different engagements with downtime in between. Nothing performance-related. Even though it was out of my hands (cont)
