I swear some weeks my actual job feels like the thing I’m supposed to fit in between internal meetings. Forecast calls, pipeline reviews, team syncs, random check-ins, and CRM cleanup somehow take over the hours when I should be doing real selling. Then leadership wonders why prospecting volume drops. I know some of it is necessary, but at a certain point it starts working against results. How are people protecting selling time without sounding difficult?

It comes down to time management, and trying to do the boring stuff as efficiently as possible. What I find is that if I focus on it and don't let myself get distracted it goes faster and I have more time for more productive actions. It's also a matter of acknowledging that the boring work is necessary. It's like gardening, turning the compost pile can be a boring chore, but it leads to a better harvest.

Beautiful gardening analogy!

I block off set focus hours on my calendar. I feel like a complete diva doing it, but it really is necessary. I wouldn't be able to get anything without them.

like

lol i feel like a diva doing it too, but idk do it occasionally to try to protect some time to actually get something done.

I had a job interview for a role that I really want. The hiring manager scheduled me for an interview and did not show up. Emailed me an hour later stating that he got super busy and couldn’t attend, and would like to reschedule. This is a major red flag, but I can’t help but feel that I am missing out since this role pays 50% over what I currently make. Should I let the recruiter know? What’s your take on this?

I left my job about a year ago to relocate, make sure it was the right decision and start a side business in the mean time. Now I’m actively looking for a new sales position, have tons of experience, but am struggling to even get a response from job apps. I am wondering if this is because of my employment gap? I don’t have my side business listed on my resume because I don’t feel like I have enough positive “stats” to report yet given it’s new. Any advice or recommendations?

I was interviewed for a major tech player in the hospitality industry, had 2 interviews which for the first one the recruiter was late, and didn't confirm the interview while I emaild her to make sure I do have an interview. When she attended she said that there was no point of responding my email as we are meeting anyway. Later on I had 2nd interview with the hiring manager. After 45 minutes she said they will let me know...

2 months later and I am still waiting...
