I verbally accepted a job offer yesterday, but I haven't seen the formal contract yet. Is it too late to bring up a higher salary or negotiate my starting bonus? I'm worried I missed my chance.

I think you missed your chance. I suppose you could try. Be sure you’re really making a strong case and/or willing to have the offer retracted.

like

You probably did. It shouldn't hurt to try, but there is always a risk of having the offer rescinded if the ask annoys the hiring manager.

like

Yeah once you get it say you will review. Then once you review suggest the bonus. Good luck

like

You can always counter the offer based on facts and the area you will be working. Be confident , sell yourself.

like

They was a post recently where someone did this and got the higher salary so it’s never too late

I would be hesitant to try at that stage. I have read situations of people having their offers rescinded because sadly, this is an employer's market and there is always a candidate willing to work for less. If you need the job, I wouldn't push your luck.

Too late

What’s the best way to turn down a 2nd interview? During the 1st interview, I learned that the compensation for the role is not within the range that I am looking for and requires 400 more billable hours a year than what I bill now. I’d basically be laterally for my current salary just to bill 400 more hours. I also wasn’t aware that the local office was strictly ID. Firm website advertises lots of practice areas. Any advice? Am I being paid competitively? I have been the Onboarding Sup for my HR dept for over a year now and I’m being paid the state min for salary, which for CA is 62,400. I have not gotten a merit raise since the last 2 January’s, the state raises the threshold for salary folks. My company says that was my raise. Is this right? I bring a background from the clinical operations of my company, scheduling, field work, and what the average employee faces. I want to look else where but I’m not sure.

Interviewing at a dream company, and right from the first interview the recruiter told me we are way off on salary expectations. This was a little bit expected, as the role is requiring a few years less experience than I have and also in a much cheaper market. They already told me the salary range during this first call, but wondering if they like me enough and I get an offer, how I might approach negotiating for more. I would be making much less than I do now, but it is a dream company.
