I was laid off by Deloitte due to COVID. I have always received high performance from my team and I love tax. But I don’t have much experience as I just graduated from law school with a JD degree last year. What are my options? What firms are still hiring? Any advice or tips? Thanks! (I only want to work in CA or NY)

With international tax experience you will get another job, so don’t worry about that. It might just take some time because you know, covid.

Find a good recruiter, ask around for leads, Etc.

There are lots of opportunities at law firms and Big 4. You may need to be a little patient but there’s tons of demand in this area and I agree you shouldn’t look in-house at your experience level. Morgan Lewis and Baker are two firms with strong International Tax practices. Where are you licensed to practice?

I thought all big 4 are on a hiring freeze? I am licensed in NY and CA

When were you laid off

How long did you work for? Which group were you in?

Hi, Which office did you work as ITS associate? I about to join Deloitte ITS as Senior but I am worried about Deloitte’s layoff. As you mentioned you were high performer, do you mean they laid off you for no reason? Sorry to raise this question. I am just worried whether I should join Deloitte ITS as Senior. It looks like they have enough people

Feeling like I’ve been “bait-and-switched”…

I’ve been interviewing at an agency with the intention of filling a Director role. Recruitment reached out soon after my last meet-and-greet interview (about 6 to 7 people total) to tell me the team thinks I would be best suited for an Associate Director role with a fast follow of a Director promotion.

Recruitment can’t tell me what feedback is creating this gap but also won’t stop mentioning the positive praise and feedback the team had for me.

Hello!
I was wondering what kind of contractual or other barriers I might face if I apply for one of the big 4 while working on a project with them in my current company.
I am not too involved in the project but I was in a few meetings and went on a field trip with them as well.
The position that I am applying for is in a different team and city.
Will this considered “poaching” if the consulting firm hires me? Would they need to talk to my current employer?

Starting a new job next month, and considering taking two days off for kids’ spring break next month. Not sure whether it’s appropriate to request time off for a new job (I would’ve preferred not to take any time off for first three months). Any thoughts on whether I should proceed with the request? I just came from big law and want to make sure I’m not making a bad impression on my colleagues.
