I was promoted early this year from an assistant “hourly” role to a managerial “salary excempt” role, but my old job hasn’t been replaced and it’s been 5 months. It’s an unfair workload and assisting someone else takes up so much time that I can’t learn and develop in the managerial role. And I find myself constantly working overtime and not getting paid fairly, even with the pay raise I got when I was promoted. I want to send my employer an email saying they’re in violation of FLSA.

Other than trial and error and general experience, what have been your best resources for learning about industry rules and regulations and advising clients when they make requests outside of that?

I have been in this position for about 8 months now. There are a few duties that I am still lacking skills in and have been told numerous times to familiarize myself with and I feel that my coworkers are constantly annoyed with how slowly I am picking up on this. While I am getting better than when I started, I was curious about if or whether or not this will cause my termination.
