I have been reading a few articles talking about how FAANG isn’t as lavish as it used to be. My first question is if that is true? If it is true, my second question is what companies out there have the pay, benefits, and perks like FAANG? My last question is if it is as difficult to get into those companies? OP - great line about the Brinks truck. Never heard that used like that before. Good luck getting the big payout.
I think everyone is forgetting to ask the important question here... what line of service OP? If it is an advisory/consulting line then 82% is really good.
Wow. A whopping 82% utilization. I don't think you understand how bragging works...
Haha good luck with that.
Someone comes into roundtables with an 82% utilization my SM starts the discussion with 'Tell me why they aren't a 2'.
82% isn't that good. That would put you bottom quartile in my office for sure
82%? Did you just eat a ton of hours or did you only work 40 hour weeks during busy season? I was always above 100% for the year until manager.
OP - are you staff? Effective utilization goal is 94%. Don't be surprised if the Brinks truck you see is the Matchbox version.
OP's been working part-time.
Why bust on OP for utilization? As a 5 apparently OP is doing something right. If he can get a 5 without being 100%+ utilized then good for him. Why work more than you absolutely have to for the same result?? It's not worth the sacrifice of time and happiness. Killing yourself to have the most utilization as if it's some badge of honor is just stupid. Only in PA to people brag about working themselves to the grave.
OP is partner material
Nah i want the Brinks truck. I was rated a 5.
Why is everyone so harsh? 82% is good (I had to even order dinner to the office a few times).
I sincerely hope OP is joking 😂 I suspect they are with that "I even had to order dinner to the office a few times" line. Good one, OP 😂😂😂
You gotta be fucking kidding me
^^took the words out of my mouth
Utilization is a silly metric, don't see why you would compare it. You can be recording every minute accurately, including lunches, breaks, and distractions and then it wouldn't be as high as somebody's who doesn't. You can take vacations and then it wouldn't be as high. There are so many reasons why it wouldn't always be comparable.
Are you actually saying 82% is high because your mom said you work too hard? Praying you're just a troll... otherwise, I'm glad you're not on my team. Congrats on the 5 though, that is great. And for the record my utilization is 105% and have not charged a minute of available in my 8 years with the firm so yes I can "honestly say" my utilization is above 82%.
For all of you putting OP down and saying you worked more, what was your rating??? Because OP was a 5.. which tells me he worked smart. I can say for sure in my practice in tax, utilization has little to do with rating but rating has a lot to do with raise %. So, OP will get best % and worked less than most of you....so OP I say laugh it off. You are doing something right ..keep doing it..
82% is good!? 😳🤔What office are you in?? In 3 years, the lowest year I have had is 102% utilization
