I went to an interview today (or rather yesterday morning. I haven’t been to bed yet, its 2:26 am. Still doing work that needs attention.) and the interview seemed to went well. Except I caught a couple of disapproving glances. I prayed a out it after I got out of there and this is what came to me: “Don’t be afraid of their faces.” That’s is biblical too. The LORD told Joshua that a little bit after he took the baton from Moses.

If you prayed about it, don’t stress it. Hopefully all goes well and you hear back. Good luck!

Hopefully, you did not discuss your religious beliefs in the interview, as that is truly no place for anything but professional qualifications. Since you felt the need to bring it up here for no particular reason, though, I wonder if that’s what inspired some odd reactions in an interview setting. If you want the job, you definitely want to be mindful of “their faces.”

No I didn’t however the lady that interviewed me is a Christian. She talked about it so my “religious beliefs” had nothing to do with it.
I brought it up here because I feel the freedom to be able to do so. It was a word of my testimony of the LORD’s encouragement to me. And No, when the LORD says something, you can best your last dollar that I am going to do everything in my power to do exactly what HE said to do. I needed encouragement and the LORD gave. I wanted to share. I did.

Please do not take my comments the wrong way as I am trying to provide a neutral opinion without insulting your beliefs. An employer should not mention religion in an interview because it is illegal as religion is a protected class. It could also lay the groundwork for a discrimination complaint or lawsuit. It is wonderful that you felt a comfortable spirit during the interview, but please be careful of leaning into religion during any subsequent interviews unless you know for a fact that the firm is Christian-based and supportive. Even then, it may not be appropriate during the interview. Remember, HR is there to protect the company and to help reduce risks and that could be interpreted as a risk.

I also went to an interview as couple of years ago where I had 2 disapproving glances. I was however offered the job but ended up declining the position and opting to stay where I was. Sending up prayers for you.

Outside of salary, what other things have people negotiated as new hire, I’ve seen more PTO, working from home, sign on bonus, even stock options? How have you negotiated these things especially if you are new to negotiating? Any books or references that gave you a great foundation. I’ve been on my job search from sometime now and getting more interviews, I’m willing to take a pay cut, but wonder what else I can ask for outside of more pay? Thanks

Trying to find recruiting firms to help me find my next project / program management role. I'm struggling to determine which firms can help with PM roles AND I'm struggling to get the ones I do find to respond to me.

It may have something to do where I'm at in my career - 15+ years of PM experience & director-level roles at my last 2 companies - so more exec level but not quite C-Suite. Have one-off recruiters hitting me up on LinkedIn about contract PM roles but that's not what I want.

For those of you who made the switch to in house/corporate law, what was your experience like? Did you have to take a lower position to gain the experience or were you able to argue that your soft skills were transferable to in house? I’ve been in litigation for 15 years and I’m looking to make the switch. Ultimately, I’d like to get into Legal Ops, but feel getting some in house experience first would be beneficial.

I did it! I got an in-house Paralegal position after years of working and being burned out at different law firms. I was going to leave the legal field all together because I was so burned out and depressed, but I decided to give the field one more chance if I was able to go in-house. Prayerfully, this transition will be a good one.

Are there any fully remote lawfirms, ie you don't have to live in the state they have offices? Hi everyone. Is it typical for the attorney to take credit for the work a paralegal does? An example: I gave some ideas about deposition questions and some observations I made (I was asked about giving suggestions) regarding a witness and the attorney mentioned that he’s the one that had these great questions/observations. Zero credit or thank you for the work I did.

So I’ve been with a court for a while and honestly the pay sucks compared to what paralegals should be making… the benefits are great though and they match my retirement 100% now that I’m vested at 3 years.I have 4 kids and 1 is getting ready for college. I feel like the benefits are great but I’d rather make more now. I am a previous LEO for 4 years who switched to paralegal so I have my leo retirement. Paralegals here make $28 with no benefits what is a good compromise
