Please evaluate this initial offer for Apple ICT3. I think I was low balled, but I want to take more opinions. Currently Sr. MTS at VMware, received Apple ICT3. I was expecting to get to ICT4 but seems like team thinks upper end of ICT3 is more apt. Also, I think it is because I don’t have any counter offers yet.

Those types of people will never “get it.” For them, “red” is a concept, whereas for those of us who know better, “red” is nothing more than a color.
If you can accept that and make peace with it, than stay. If you can’t though, you know what you have to do
Nick, that’s not the crux of the issue. The crux is that the people making promotions don’t think a copywriter can lead a team of mostly designers.
That’s a bummer. I find working with copywriter CDs to be much more fun, but I also have a traditional design background and can be trusted to not make rookie errors that an CD/AD would catch. And writer CDs have eyes too. They can’t tell you how to get to a design solution but they can have a conversation about why something works or doesn’t
Yeah, that sucks. Definitely time to leave, I'd say. Hell, you'll probably have better luck earning a new title by leaving than working your way up internally.
Regardless, life is too short to be miserable at work. Good luck and happy hunting!
Oh wow OP, yeah I'm sorry that sounds like such a bummer. I guess because of my perspective I wasn't thinking that far ahead career wise. Is there any chance that you have some kind of goals/progress checkup at your agency with your boss? Maybe mention you'd like to lead a team. If not I'm afraid you'll have to move house. I wish you the best of luck my dude.
I worked in a place like that and they did my head in. If the concept, as ACD above mentioned, is on par with "red", flee as fast as I can.
If the shop is idea lead - copywriter can become a manager, if it's all about that high-minded nonsense, you don't want to be working there in the first place. It's bad for your book.
I wish I didn’t like working here so much, or the simple answer would be to leave.
Why can't you have great visual AND copy?
I’m sorry, I can’t form a question. I’m just frustrated and probably need to find a new job.
What do you mean by "often to their detriment," OP? Sounds like there might be some subtext that's worth unpacking.
ACD2 The work lacks consistency, there is no idea or strategy tying the work together. Because the work doesn’t start out with any strategic foundation, there is often deep churn with approvals as the assignment or direction only becomes clear when the work is about to be shipped.
I appreciate your thoughts. I’m an eternal optimist, but at a certain point you need to recognize that you’re swimming upstream and no one gives a shit. Thank you!
