I work in a small area with 1 other teacher. Just me and them, All. The. Time. I try to work with them, but they won't with me. If I have an idea, they poke holes in it, call it dumb, or try to find reasons why we shouldn't do it. They're rude to others, but don't think they're the problem when things go wrong. They have many reasons why they won't work with others, and want everything to be about them. Others stay away from me now too, help! How do you deal with a selfish, toxic, rude person?

I'm a cashier. We just got a new manager, and she's making things really hard for us. She starts work at 4:30am and leaves around 2:30pm, but she still expects us to stay until 6pm and work on the weekends! She gives us really long shifts and doesn't give us much time for breaks. And when we ask her about it, she gets mad.

I'm worried that if I speak up, she'll make my life even harder. I don't want to lose my job because of this—do you guys have any advice?

RANT: People re-writing a cw’s stuff has always been painful. These days it’s far more common than when I started. It’d be one thing if they upgraded the work. If I learned from it. If I genuinely seethed with envy over their wit w/that perfectly placed semi-colon. People can’t re-art direct stuff bc they don’t know the programs so they ask the ADs for changes. Word and a keyboard made everyone think they can write. Which they can’t. Google Slides is Google slip ‘n slide into (bad ref. here.)

I’m concerned about the surge in omicron. I packed everything, just in case. Q2 is ending, a new quarter is starting. We get new kids each quarter as a Specials teacher.
It’s stressful at quarter changeovers.
In going back after break, it’s too much of a contrast. I cannot sleep, I wake up in the middle of the night, “for the day”, about 6 nights a week. To stay structured, I go to “Surrender yoga” daily. I’m good to go do 1 more thing after yoga. I feel accomplished. Couching causes anxiety.
