How to deal with parents that want to know everything but you don’t want to tell them everything because you want to loose your job?

Can you give more context?

Off the top of my head, I feel like FERPA is your “go to” here.

However, if you don’t mean in a “confidentiality” sort of scenario, could you provide a bit of clarity?

Does the teacher directly address the issue?

What is done to promote a healthier rapport?

As a teacher, my concern would be “Why isn’t the parent coming to me? Do we need to address the rapport I have built?”

I don’t understand how someone can lie about loving you for 6 months. We were together for almost a year (broke up a week before our anniversary). I said I love you first and he said it back. I asked for more reassurance last month with saying I love you more often. Now all of a sudden he said he didn’t know if he loved me and that love meant marriage for him. Okay well great thanks for telling me this now, 6 months after it was initially exchanged. I don’t understand how he could do that.

Last night I went over to my friends house (she has 2 kids, 2 and 4 yo). She and her husband were asking me about my pregnancy and planning. And were asking what I’ve prepped to date. I’m only 13w2 days so I think it’s way to early for buying stuff, but I did mention we hired a baby nurse for when the baby comes. My friend completely berated me, short of calling me a bad mom already, saying “what is she going to do all day? Don’t you want to bond with your child?”. I’m so upset by this.

My mom and dad are separating (bad terms) and not speaking, but my mom asks me about him everyday. She knows I don’t want to talk to him or about him, but continues to bring it up everyday.. I’ve resorted to silence or not responding because I always end up being the bad guy when I get annoyed or don’t want to discuss it. Am I wrong here?

Hello kindergarten teachers I have a question for those in the New York area. I have a son going into kindergarten in a few days. My question is what knowledge is he expected to walk in knowing?

I give massive kudos to all the parents out there juggling work and home life. But it’s starting to feel like I pulled the short stick by not having a kid. Really struggling to pick up all of the slack from all of the colleagues that do have kids and feel like the expectation is that parents should turn off while the rest are working from 7am - 2am everyday to make up for it.

Subs! Internal subbing is draining the life out of teachers. The sub schedule comes out at the last minute bc of so many teacher absences. It’s the split classes in one period (1/2 Gen Ed and a Special Ed class) Teachers on a cart. Subs pick up students and deliver students. Class changeovers take 10 minutes bc of the domino effect. We’re all waiting for next sub. Teachers are late for their own classes. Students are in chaos with rotating subs. We pay $100 a day. Is the Solution in plain sight?

This weekend, starting right now, try to identify the very best thing that happens. Keep a running top five. When something better happens, put it on the list.

I started yesterday at 4:00.

5. I woke up Saturday morning.
4. The roads are clear enough to travel to our first HS archery tournament of the season.
3.My dad shared some amazing summer sausage when I visited.
2. We had a child free date night
1. My 6th grade son instigated a snowball fight yesterday afternoon, we made a memory.

Hey you, weary teacher, I see you.
I hear you sigh,
eyes closed,
Head in your hands...

I know the things you think,
the doubts,
fears,
the frustrated pain...

I know you are trying.
I know you work hard.
Sometimes it seems like you’re the only one
in the whole damn school who cares...

I know.
I see.
I hear.
I care.

You are the difference.
You are power.
Through you flows the future.
You author the stories of the world.

I care about the tale you are creating.
Please keep writing. Please.
