I worked in healthcare as a mental health therapist and left after six years due to extreme burnout. I now help first generation Latinas stop settling for a career that’s burning them out. What do you do to help prevent burnout?

That is great to hear! This field especially is so hard to not experience burnout or see somebody else going through it. So many people I work with, including myself, put a lot of ourselves into the place and it’s a lot of giving and not taking. I think it’s important for everyone to be selfish sometimes and do things for yourself outside of work. Pouring from a full cup.

I completely agree. As service providers I feel we already have the personality to please and are often giving without receiving. We definitely have to learn to prioritize ourselves!

I definitely understand the burnout. It’s so emotionally draining to do this work. I feel like changing settings may help. Not sure yet but I’m in the process of doing just that. Our pay is also pretty pathetic and that adds to burnout.

like

Yesss. That’s what I did. I left the healthcare company I was working at and started my own practice. I agree about our pay. I now also coach woman who are done settling for a career where they’re burnt out.

Really try to separate my personal life from my job.

I started a new job, and moved to a new city about 7 months ago. Honestly, I’m not happy. I like my company’s culture, but not what we do. I tried to stay a float , but just can’t. I’m in a place of leadership, and they have me in a lot of projects I have no interest in. Current salary is 75k and I have a contract offer(aligned with my passion) for $50hourly(roughly 100k). I’m prepared to sublet and move back home, but I’ll lose benefits. What would you do in my position?

Has anyone taken part of the education reimbursement program? I’m already wearing multiple hats when it comes to work. Does anyone have insight on how it works/what it’s like? Thanks in advance!

Sooooo bored with the work but love the money and am generally happy with the team/people I work with. Should I lateral or go in-house so I get a chance to work those management/stakeholder engagement muscles? Just don’t feel challenged anymore. Is another option to talk to the partners and ask for more interesting/higher quality work?

First post, not sure if this is the best bowl to use but here goes. I’m wondering if anyone can share a bit about their experience working at MongoDB. I have seen they are hiring for many roles and am curious to hear about their experience. In particular, I would like to hear about software engineer roles. Currently I work on database engine C++ code and have seen some roles that indicate continuing down this stream would be possible with my skillset.
