A simple answer to your question is 2-3x a week and not consecutive days. Don’t neglect your back. Focus on triceps more than biceps for size [curls are overrated]
A more thorough answer would be that your running will be improved by full body training and you should try and hit everything 2-3x a week.

Good HIIT circuits incorporate arms (ie, planks, burpees) and you’ll get the double whammy of arm + core work that will help your running
Chin ups for the biceps and overhead presses and push presses for the triceps. 3x a week is good. Also do squats- which based help spike hormones and grow all muscle groups.
I do arm/back weight workouts 3-4 day/week. I like to do chest/shoulder/tricep together (a lot of chest exercises like chest press work triceps) and then group bicep/back weights on the other days. It helps to alternate this way especially if you want to work out multiple days in a row.
