Don’t tell your old job you have a new job. It’s kind of an unofficial don’t ask don’t tell policy. If they find out, they may try to cut your severance as of your new job’s start date. depends on the paperwork you signed.
I mean this whole situation implies that the contract that says you get severance also says that your former agency has any say on when you're allowed to start a new job after you've left, which is bullshit. They don't have any control over that, especially when you're not their employee. Severance is supposed to give you a bit of cushion after losing a job, if you happen to not need it cause you got a new gig, then it's a win for you (and it'll be at least 2-3 weeks until you get your first new paycheque anyway).
Not at your level
You keep the severance. It's all yours! You cannot claim unemployment however. You will be penalized for that.
Nope. They still need to pay you the severance package. Unless maybe if it’s with an agency that’s part of the same holding company. Either way, good for you!
Good advice here
Sweet! Thank you 😊
Yea I was thinking I would update my new gig after the severance ends - great advice!
