AWS cloud application architect. Had an on-site interview with AWS a few days ago and just got an email saying they want to talk to me about next steps. The role is cloud application architect but I want to ask them about the senior cloud application architect role. I have all the relevant experience for that role and feel like I’d be a better fit for that senior role. How should I approach this conversation? Is this even possible? Amazon

It’s a holiday weekend. Follow up on Tuesday and if you still hear nothing, sure, apply.

You know, I think putting in a referral seems like a given but when I was in house, I really felt like I was putting my neck on the line if I referred someone. Some people just aren’t comfortable with that.
How “not right away”?
But I’d think about how close you are with them? If just a random law school/college alum, then maybe apply but if you worked with for like a year or two and think they’d vouch, I would follow up

Just apply. And if they get back to you they’ll refer you through. It’s not an “either or” scenario
At my company (massive tech) it's either or -- once you apply you can't go through the referral process.
