Have an interview with EY FDD that includes a case and meeting with two senior managers. I heard the case was excel intensive. Any ideas on what to expect?
Hey folks — has anyone done case interviews at social impact consulting firms? (Dalberg, Bridgespan, FSG, etc.) Any insights or advice on case prep? Thank you!
Sunday thoughts - prepped for an upcoming interview all day and felt wracked with self doubt. Then realised that the 5-year-ago (22yo) me would be thrilled to be where I am now. I came from nothing from the middle of nowhere - the land of teen moms and red necks. I had imposter syndrome all throughout undergrad and didn’t believe in myself. If you’ve come a long way, share your story and let’s toast to our successes. This job can be hard, but getting to today hasn’t been easy either
What’s a good reason for wanting to leave your firm within couple months to say for an interview?
It is just me or do other people feel like they do better in interviews when they don’t give a crap about it? I had an interview for a head of strategy position and because I thought it was such a reach position, I didn’t prep that much, and I killed the interview. Not sure if I got it, but we’ll see.
Post interview follow-up emails -- looking for advice. I don't want to sound too generic, nor do I want to sound too intrusive. (It's for a smaller PE firm). TIA.
Has anyone gone through the Facebook BizOps Associate loop interview? Wondering what to expect, and if there are any resources I’d love to be directed! Thanks
Happy Friday again Fish! Please DM me if you’re looking to make a switch to BCG and want a referral, there is a huge push for EHs right now. I’m more than happy to help: - Connect you to friends who’ve come in as experienced hires from Various consulting firms (big 4, S&, ATK, etc.) - Hop on a call to discuss resume /behavioral prep - Share interview tips
Are companies allowed to record your skype/phone interview without telling you and without an NDA or other form signed?
Interviewing for a small tech start-up and their Glassdoor reviews are... not good. How can I gracefully bring that up in the next round of interviews? Salary would be almost double my current comp
Anyone know how the Master's in Financial Analytics is at Santa Clara University? I was thinking of applying there for a chance to break into senior finance roles in Silicon Valley/Bay Area.
Any reason why I should wait another 1-2 months before asking for a letter of rec from two bosses I have a great relationship with? Already know I'm applying r1 this fall and not sure if the extra heads up time is smart
I have roughly 1.5 YOE at a top 10 firm, half in audit half in TAS, no CPA. I’ve applied to and received referrals for pretty much all big 4 and other 10 firms. For the ones who gave me a phone screen or first round interview, I was told they’d like me to have more YOE before considering me. Yet I see folks on here with 1.5 YOE in just audit getting senior roles in TAS at these same firms. I believe I’m personable and decent at interviewing. Any ideas on why I’m not getting any offers?
MBB 🐠Does interviews round 1 performance impacts the final decision to extend an offer or does the final round matters most? Gauging my chances when I feel like borderline passed round 1
I have a phone interview with Deloitte tomorrow. Can anyone tell me what it’s like and typical questions from a recruiter? It’s a business analyst role
Hi moms. My husband and I have decided to start trying for our first baby! Looking back, what did you wish you knew at this point in your journey? Looking for any and all tips! Thank you.
Is anyone’s school system taking any of the lessons learned since last March about education and changing how they do business? Our county is reverting to the pre-pandemic factory model of education. I thought we might have some significant changes in education, but sadly it is business as usual- 7 classes of 25-35 students a day.
Clinically depressed (functioning) and in mourning over the loss of a family member. If not for wfh, I would have had to take a sabbatical. Wild to think that the performative-but-not-performance stuff (am I cute and polished in the office at 8.45am on the dot?) could dictate our trajectories in the before times. Grateful for the executional focus of wfh that allows me to be a crying unshowered mess between mtgs without damaging my career.
Any CREATIVE, AWARD-WINNING healthcare agencies in NYC besides of Area 23? I want to do more than these never-ending launches and boring brochures 😪 If they do Social Impact, Consumer healthcare (OTC), Welless, or related categories out of Pharma, even better.
Do you all separate positions within a firm on your resume? Is it okay to just lump everything together and only put your current position?
I am looking for a way to create a lookup in excel where I can type a value into a "search" cell, and excel will spit out every instance in a range where that search term occurs, as well as a corresponding value from a seperate cell. Example of what I envision attached. Data table on the right, search and results on the left. Bonus points if it can be done with multiple columns of phrases.
Hey Fishes- So my parents got B2 Visa on March 2020 to come for my graduation in May. But due to covid, they couldn’t travel. The visa has duration of 5 years. I heard somewhere that if you don’t travel within 1 year of obtaining visa, you can’t use the remaining visa? Is that true?
I currently work in hardware technical sales as a Senior Sales Engineer, OTE $110-120K with 1.5 YOE. Industrial automation equipment for a large player in the space. Software sales seems appealing due to remote work, more flexion, and higher pay comps. Any advice on how I should start to structure/build my experience for a move? Anyone have similar experience in switching and have recommendations on companies I should target?
Household total compensation is around 290K, no kids. We are thinking on moving to Philly, how much can we afford to spend on a house? Realize that it will likely vary based on neighborhood
Are there good exit options for L&E biglaw that can eventually lead to JD-preferred type HR roles? Does this sort of pipeline exist and has anyone taken that sort of path?
We are moving to a big city, and my husband really wants us to choose a housing option that does not have a bathtub. It’s a fantastic house, but that’s kind of a big negative for me since we have a baby and a toddler. Anyone have ideas for ways to “create” a bathtub or something to buy that’s big enough for a toddler bath? Toddler loves his current baths in a normal size tub.
hearing that promotion to SM at EY in FSO is going to be less than 10% next year. lots of pressure to sell
I thought ad people were terrible, and then they added everyone to the broader Work/Life with Coronavirus bowl where all the bankers and consultants get to show how it’s REALLY done
Is anyone else having a hard time getting motivated to keep up with the rat race now that we're working from home? I'm in a promotion year and honestly I'm feeling so disconnected from everything that I can't bring myself to put in the work right now. Anyone else in the same boat?
🐠- I have received a check for lump sum pension payment. Am looking to deposit it into my Fidelity IRA account. The app prompts me to select deposit type as contribution or rollover (direct or 60 day). What should I be selecting? Also, is there any difference between depositing into a traditional IRA vs rollover IRA? Appreciate any guidance
