I’m 3 months into a my first job as an entry level Business analyst with high data focus at a big investment bank but contracted by a consulting firm. I don’t come from a tech/finance background so I was promised training. I don’t feel like I’m don’t feel like I’m learning anything though and everything is so slow placed I feel more like an intern given small tasks. my manager is also new to tech so I don’t know who to look for as a mentor… any advice pls ?

Graduating senior. Have choices between MBB and SWE at FAANG. Not sure what to do. Long term I’d love to be in a small startup or a leader in a tech company. Not sure which path is better for that. Any thoughts?

Any input on job offerings I’ve received. Morgan Stanley CRU risk officer pay is $70k with a less than 10% bonus. And KeyBank position is a private client advisor pay is $67k but bonus can range from $10k -$25k depending on performance and other compensation factors. So pretty much you work In consulting, get paid half of what fang people make and In many cases work IB hours to meet clients continually changing demands . All the while the consulting project is built on a half thought out rushed tech stack/architecture? Meanwhile tech companies expose their employees to best in bread tech stacks? I really don’t understand why anyone in the field would work as a consultant doing data work? The only + is in consulting there are lots of low hangin fruit 🍎.

Quick survey: Do you guys think having a template package to envelope an ML model as an application would be helpful. The package could contain boiler plate template for unit test, docker image, CI/CD, database connectors etc and act as a starting point for doing that. Tech firms usually have that internally but limited options in open source.

Coming to the realization that consulting is not for me (tech person) feeling angry that salaries at D will never be on pair with FANG and that leadership is not tech focused. For example you could be a soul contributor at fang making 240k and people at Deloitte wait 10+ years to earn that as Senior Managers because they need to climb the corporate ladder. It seems super clear cut to me now, if you want to make money in tech don’t join consulting firms. Am I wrong?

The community is super toxic and I'm looking for a place I can casually ask questions that might seem dumb without being hrangued for not providing an essay proof of the research I've already done.
