Why are so many people leaving Facebook?
When is it best to leave consulting? Here's how I think about it.
First, are you enjoying it? If so, why leave (it can be a great life long career)?
Second, are you still learning fast? If not, you're missing out.
Last, what skills do most employers value? In my experience, this dictates 2 optimal jumping off points:
(a) 2-3 years in. Consulting "tool kit" is solid
(b) ~1-2 year into Manager. Employers value experience managing people.

Have a chance at partner is code for "it's possible but very unlikely"
Partners started getting groomed for the process 2-4 years out
But let's take a look at this from a different angle....partner means you are an owner. Do you want to do this for the rest of your life? From what I remember....the pwc partnership pays off well.....but it's not that great until the last few years of your life. I think it takes about 10 years of partner until you really start to do well.
Also.....depending on how you invest. A 400k industry job could equal more money when you take into account the hours you will work and the freedom you will have when it comes to investment options (fyi...pwc limits which companies you can buy stock in)
Listen to what PwC11 says. I was also that Director but a woman.
Take the Exit now. It's so much harder to get when you're 10 years older.
Mentor
Exit and come back if they take you as a direct admit partner.
400K- thats very nice.
100% echo D1 and P5. Take the exit and consider coming back when they offer you option to come back as direct admit partner. 18 months is unheard of and I’ve seen several directors make the mistake of sticking it out for the dangling carrot (told 2 years to Partner and it ended up being closer to 5 years). Good luck OP
Move to industry,
Exit. Better all around
Take the industry role . You can always come back .
Exit .. Take the industry offer..
Can someone please explain the PwC partner buy-in process to me like I'm a 3rd grader?
Exit. Everyone always has a shot at being partner, or needs to think they do. It’s what underpins much of the leverage model.
I’d leave and come back if you want. Partner path is usually 3 year pipeline, and you mention elsewhere it’s for income / salary partner.
To be honest with that you sign away a lot of your employee rights but are basically treated like one, salary partner is the way most firms are going and in my experience it’s not worth it - it’s the new director with higher rev KPIs
Nobody is a sure shot for partner ever. Everything can change in 18 months.
What type of industry offer is it? Sounds amazin
Maybe use the industry offer to negotiate with PwC? Faster promotion track promised plus good bonus %
