Still at EY? Look into FAAS
Can tell you it is hit or miss with FAAS. I am an M in it and with client work and on top of that, added BD work, it can possibly burn you out more. A lot of it really depends on the project you are on. For example transaction projects are massive time consumption bombs, but you will learn a lot. There are other projects that are more relaxed depending on the substance but do not think accoutning advisory is just a cake walk as well.
As for BD work, I was in audit originally and that was never a worry for me. It was more for higher management in audit since they have to get business but audit is primarily recurring revenue unless you get fired by client/AC.
FAAS, you have to help go get the business since it is not recurring revenue on most cases. However, if we have very good relationships with clients, that helps in getting new projects with similar past clients to help create a somewhat recurring revenue stream with client.
As for salary, you will get paid a bit more than audit depending on your ratings, etc. but you will not be making IB money here.
just as a heads up it's approximately a 10% premium pay for EY FAAS over audit. it's not as much as other firms
Some ranks/cities are actually the same shockingly. I’ve seen audit and FAAS within a couple % points difference now….
