I'm a physical therapist living in a rural area, and while I love the slower pace, the lower salary is starting to wear on me. I'm seriously considering relocating to a larger city for better pay, but I'm worried the higher cost of living will eat up all the extra income. I'd definitely be making the 20% recommended here/ Has anyone else made this kind of move? Did it pay off financially? Were there any unexpected downsides to adjusting to a more expensive, urban lifestyle?

We are hiring for PT's around 50-55 an hour depending on experience in the state of Georgia.

I lived in Missouri and made around $22/he as a nurse I had a large home for 60k. In Texas the average home is around $250k in our area today...then it was around $200k and rent was easily $1800 a month. BUT I was instantly making $10 more an hour, no state income tax, no tax on groceries. It panned out. I don't live in the city but near them.

Just do your math.....moving for more pay even if things do cost more doesn't always mean cost prohibitive. In my case although housing and electricity is a ton more here ... everything else balances that out in a way that i'm more than comfortable.

What state?

I’ve been working for my State Farm agency as a team member for 2 years. I am licensed in property and casualty as well as life and health, but only make $13 an hour. I technically can make bonuses but I’m not supposed to dig into a sale and I have to send it to a sales rep (I am service and retention mostly). My boss also has me running a retired agents office until a new one is chosen (its an hour away with no pay increase or mileage pay). Also, no benefits! Should I start job searching?

I’m a newly graduate from a community college. My program of study was Health Information Technician. I’ve applied for receptionist, medical biller/coordinator, and medical clerk. Even with inflation willing to work for minimum wage or less just to gain experience.

Is there a definitive guide to cost of living? The obvious cost of living centers (SF, NYC, LA etc.) get covered a lot, but I’m wondering where my city falls. It’s a modest Midwest city with ~100k residents but is a relatively touristy spot. It often feels like a MCOL area but I’m not sure how to adequately judge that, and it would be helpful to know when comparing salaries and the like.
