I'm a physical therapist living in a rural area, and while I love the slower pace, the lower salary is starting to wear on me. I'm seriously considering relocating to a larger city for better pay, but I'm worried the higher cost of living will eat up all the extra income. I'd definitely be making the 20% recommended here/ Has anyone else made this kind of move? Did it pay off financially? Were there any unexpected downsides to adjusting to a more expensive, urban lifestyle?

I’ve been working for my State Farm agency as a team member for 2 years. I am licensed in property and casualty as well as life and health, but only make $13 an hour. I technically can make bonuses but I’m not supposed to dig into a sale and I have to send it to a sales rep (I am service and retention mostly). My boss also has me running a retired agents office until a new one is chosen (its an hour away with no pay increase or mileage pay). Also, no benefits! Should I start job searching?

I’m a newly graduate from a community college. My program of study was Health Information Technician. Is there a definitive guide to cost of living? The obvious cost of living centers (SF, NYC, LA etc.) get covered a lot, but I’m wondering where my city falls. It’s a modest Midwest city with ~100k residents but is a relatively touristy spot. It often feels like a MCOL area but I’m not sure how to adequately judge that, and it would be helpful to know when comparing salaries and the like.
