Hi fishes Will work from home in FIS continue atleast upto Dec 2022? Any idea? FIS Global
I got offer in Bangalore FIS and my husband got an offer with one big company in Hyderabad. Both companies are currently WFH only but in future, I might have to consider moving to Hyderabad. Fis doesn't have office in Hyderabad so I was wondering if I can ask permanent WFH later. I guess I will be put in fis payment solution.
Thanks in advance. Kindly let me know. FIS Global
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

I work at a similar shop. We’re mostly remote, so in-person social opportunities are always well-attended. That said, we also have plenty of people who are well liked and go to 0.0 events. As long as you’re friendly during office hours and get the work done, no one is going to fault you for skipping <insert event here>. I’d suggest going to a couple of volunteer events if your agency does that sort of thing — it’s a way to mingle with the team while having a task at hand. Otherwise, don’t worry about it! They wouldn’t hire you if you weren’t already a “culture fit” where it counts.
This is good this is good.
I don’t have any helpful tips to offer, but same. I try to participate in activities enough to not look like a total stick in the mud, but it can be a chore.
I like my job and am good at it, and I like my coworkers, but I’m not trying to have work be my whole identity and primary social circle like it sometimes seems others are.
I’m guessing you’re on the introverted side also. It seems there aren’t many (any?) agency cultures that cater to introverts.
I’m definitely on the introverted side! I’m a pretty good actor when I need to be but it takes everything in me and feel like a shell of a human when the moment has passed. I wish there was ANY consideration for people who don’t want/care about socializing with coworkers.
Say you have a kid. Or a bonsai tree collection that needs constant nurturing.
HAHAHAH the bonsai tree. That made me laugh so hard!
I don't blame you. The shift to "fun" work environments has been painful. I'm lucky to work with a partner who feels the same. I try to attend events once a quarter to stay "involved", but I always get out as early as possible when I do. I wish our firm offered volunteer events like SC1 mentioned. Those sound far less painful than the incessant happy hours.
The worst are those over night trips where you have to share a room with a coworker 🤮
There were a couple cabin/cottage retreats where everyone has a bunk bed and is all in the same room, male and females. I’m physically not able to be ON for 48 hours straight without a moment of alone time. It’s torture.
