In a town of 75,000 I would 1) Target Centers of Influence. Estate planning Attorneys, CPAs, maybe even mortgage brokers and high end Realtors. Individual lunches and/breakfasts. Maybe sponsor a CPE course, or a trade association. P&C insurance firms.2) Golf membership. If you don't know where you might move, see if you can go as a guest of someone or the club to start getting a feel for the people and learning about the community. The more you narrow in on the community, the more you become involved. Maybe join the local Chamber or something?Do you have a niche client? A unique practice specialization? If you are going to go with any traditional media, I would try to leverage my advertising budget to get an article published in a strategic magazine or local paper.Good luck.
75000 is pretty small. Are you leaving a big city going to a small city or a suburb of a big city? Huge difference. If a bedroom community that would be much different then an actual autonomous city.
Screen sharing, Skype and the internet allow you to manage money anywhere for anyone if you know what your doing.
I would try to establish a presence there now. Is it nearby, so you could start networking, going to events and being involved in the community before you even make the jump?
See who’s in town acting as an RIA/etc - depending on your experience/expertise, possibly create a niche for yourself. Focus on COI’s - 75k people is small and likely everyone is connected. Good luck
