So with 👆🏼said...you can really tailor your exit opps to specifically what you’re interested in. As for important skillsets, beyond the typical core consulting skills you’d pick up, the following cm skills come to mind: communications (both written and verbal), process mapping, workshops design and execution, journey mapsping, psychology and functional knowledge, training design etc...
Think of change management as “executing strategy” applicable to large types of transformations - e.g., corporate / business strategy , m&a, functional (hr / supply / finance / crm) transformations, operating model, culture changes. Helping manage “change” at large organizations at a time when the pace of change just keeps getting faster has become a source of competitive advantage.
I actually think exit ops aren’t limited to HR/OD. That’s basically saying change mgmt only applies to the people aspect which is incorrect. Change management is critical to transformations, turnarounds, restructuring, m&a and goes well beyond the people elements.
Change mgt is def the people side --the impact those events 👆have on the organization is what is in focus ...the strategy of which is to help transition impacted people through to future state.
I would not recommend. Long term potentio is okay but get some tech skills if you want to take a change project that’s fine too.
Too many people think change is easy we but then that means more people have that capability. Tech all day long.
