You are not a fraud.
You’re learning the ropes. Give yourself permission to not be perfect. Don’t worry about what you think you’ll become. Just focus on getting better now at what you’re doing. The better you get, it’s likely that you’ll get trusted with other projects. Keep learning. Keep asking questions.
Growth and learning takes time…not days, not weeks…I mean months and years. You will get there. You probably already are. Just keep proving to your bosses that you are getting better. Show passion and curiosity.
You got this.
I needed to hear this..
15 years in. Just kicked off a pitch that I’m leading. “Do I have any fucking idea what I’m doing?” plays on a loop in my brain, while I’m explaining the creative to 20-30 people on daily zoom calls.
When you are starting it can feel super intimidating. But you gotta remember that you are there for a reason. Conceptual thinking takes time to build up and honestly years of experience, also if you are in an agency were you feel really proud to put on your resume, ask the people you work with how are their processes? Get inspired from people that will help you grow! I think a lot of us experience that at the beginning. But time will really help you to feel more comfortable and learn how to create strong ideas. You aren’t a fraud. We are all here faking it until we make it!
Yeah I’ll add that no one has this creative job figured out 100%. Everyone is working with their best assumptions at how to do it well. Do your thing, do it your way, you’ll find the right path.
