You could get a junior planner role at big firm or you could look to get job at a calling center for Fidelity or Schwab.
Tough position to be in. I’m sorry to hear this. Have you thought about quitting before they fire you? Getting fired will make in harder to get another job in this industry. Not impossible, but harder
Banking industry with a retail advisory division or trust department may be a good option to explore!
Where you located and what licenses do you hold?
Agree that finding something else before you’re fired is best. Some companies won’t look at someone with a mark on their U4.
As an aside, being in such a heavily-regulated industry that assumes you’re guilty until proven innocent is a pain in the damn ass.
How you describe yourself is like saying I’m a great painter, as long as I pick the colors by the numbers or I’d be great at basketball if I were only taller. The only really valuable skill in this industry is the rainmaker. Just about anyone can service accounts which is why service FAs work for Producers FAs, and get paid less. Either find the discipline and drive to develop a practice or candidly, get out. Yes, there are ways to hang on but you’ll always be beholden to someone else and never make the sizeable income you think is achievable. Do it now while you can still find a satisfying career. This isn’t for everyone
Fidelity has a huge call center in north Fort Worth (Southlake), Texas. A friend of mine works there and loves it. No prospecting. No taking client issues home to worry about. 8-5 job and makes salary plus reasonable bonus.
Check with Edelmann Financial. From what I can tell, they do all of the prospecting and marketing and only expect their advisors to do client service. Sounds like it would be perfect for you. I believe they have offices all around the country.
Quit before you get fired. A bad U4 entry could prevent you from being employed in this industry. Then look at the above suggestions
Don’t get in role as non sales. Unless you are liked pay lousy and offices very clickish. Find someplace that really values your intellect and put it to good use.
Be a junior at a firm like us where I am the one who is The Rainmaker and the team around us does the actual real work.
Go to a bank. I am the same way. Clients love me. I can take burned clients that refuse to be back in the market or trust anyone and earn their trust and have the market make sense again. I liken the bank channel to getting to be a Financial Advior 95% of the time and only prospecting 5% of the time. I never carry a business card and just get to know people for the sake of getting to know people. I don’t have to prospect them. I am also very picky as to who will be my client. Makes life great knowing you have an endless stream of potential clients and you don’t have to do things the clients way. If it’s not a good fit they would be better served elsewhere.
It is a dilemma. We are in a contact sport and for business to happen, you need contact. Look for better ways to prospect. I think we in the industry who mentor people have it wrong. Knowledge comes from doing. Knowing product is vital but way down the food chain from prospecting. All our knowledge is worthless if we have no one to share it with. How we share it is the real magic here
OP, I am looking to hire someone like you to work for me! I ONLY want to prospect and am looking to partner with someone like you who will do everything else. Please send me a message!!
