Their is very little consistency across the board. Your sample hierarchy is generally right, but also consider:
- Some add a Sr AE role between AE and AS
- Some add a Management Sup or Associate Dir role between Sup and Dir.
- Some places an AD is the same as VP (ie - Grey)
- Some call AAE an Account Coordinator instead
- And some really annoying ones call their Sups “Account Managers” (ie BBDO)
Don’t even get me started on pharma account titles. Theirs are whack.
There 🤦🏼♀️
Agreed, AD1. Personally I’ve seen AC— AAE—AE— AS— Mgmt Sup or Assoc AD — AD — GAD — Head if Client Services. Each agency has their own way of doing things though. I’ve been at places where an Account/Brand Manager meant AE and others where it was a catch all term for anyone above an intern to just under AD.
+1
To kick this thread off, this is the acct career path I'm familiar with: AAE --> AE --> AS --> AD --> VP --> SVP --> EVP
Add on friends! If need be, I can then throw all the info gathered on a Google doc link and share for everyone to have. We just gotta figure out how we interpret these roles across agencies/companies 👏
