I’m in the process for studying for my AUD CPA exam. I’m using Wiley for my study program, but am averaging in the 60’s on the practice exams. Are the practice exams harder than the actual exam?

You may want to push that exam back a few weeks.

You don’t even know when my exam is…

If you’re in audit, save it as your last exam. Your experience in PA over time will help you understand it more/better. I have 6 years audit experience, I didn’t study for it, winged it, and passed.

like

AUD either doesn’t make sense because you don’t work in audit or it doesn’t make sense because you do work in audit.

Aud was my worst one. Some find it the easiest.

But no, the actual exam is 10 times harder.

funny

Idk about Wiley, but with Becker, the trend is usually to add 10 points to your score from the practice exams. For example, if you score a 62, then on the real exam, you’ll likely get a 72. Maybe spend some more time with the material and jump back into MCQs if you’re not scoring high enough.

I failed the final exams with becker and passed the actual exams

Currently a staff in audit - 6 months in. Glad to be learning a lot, and have had a generally positive experience at the firm other than a few interactions, some tough busy season nights. Really been intrigued by TAS/M&A, however, and had a few convos with a senior in TAS i know at the firm. It’s closer to what I studied, but don’t know how to make the jump as it seems an internal transfer could take 6+months/senior rank and a lot of convincing. Is it better to jump firms/has anyone done this?

I’ve been with PwC almost for a year now in the valuations group and I don’t see myself doing this long term. 90% I’m helping Audit Teams understand valuations and 10% I’m doing PPAs. I always wanted to go into more a consulting role (ops/strategy role). I also like modeling, but the current modeling I’m doing is more accounting focused rather than finding business value from synergy creation. Ideally I’d like to stick with PwC but I’d switch too. Thoughts where I should apply too?

Hello, I am in USI GES tax at DUSI. I love my job but not my team and mgmt anymore. I'm a performer and I'm dumped with work of 2 ppl while others are searching for work. I am burned out.

I resigned and accepted a job with EY GDS with a huge pay bump that DUSI can't match but I also gave up my potential promotion for 2023.

I've been feeling bad about putting my papers down and letting go off my promotion but I am really tired. I took up this job as an escape.

Did i do the right thing?

Hey Dallas folks!

I want to get to know the local private companies. I worked at a private company with 2-3k employees before my MBA. They had an amazing culture, but limited progression opportunities. I'm thinking about looking for a smaller company (couple hundred to couple thousand employees) in the Dallas area and looking to find an amazing culture.

Anyone have recommendations on companies with great cultures in the Dallas/north of Dallas areas? (I live in the Plano/Allen/Mckinney area)

Recently got married and about to rent both of our properties and buy a new house for us. Is there a financial gain by creating a business for our rentals? As in a tax break for that income?

I went under contract last fall for a new build that will be done later this year. In the contract the seller/builder included a clause that gave them the ability to change the price without cause anytime before the house is complete. This past week they invoked that clause to increase the price by like 7%, supposedly due to material costs. I can either agree to the increase or they return my deposit. My question: is that type of clause even legal? (Cont)
