Unfortunately most jobs will give you 3-5% every 12 months. If you are getting less than that you should 100% look for a new job at a higher salary, otherwise you are just stunting yourself.
The best path towards a higher income is to look for a new job at a higher salary every 2-3 years. I wish that wasn’t the truth but it is. That’s the only real way to get anything close to a 10% increase in income every 15 months.
That's actually very helpful advice. My start was $25/hr. My raise after 6 months was $25.37. In retrospect I guess a 1.46% is decent. I'll see what this January brings. My other paralegal received no raise.
Unfortunately not. But it depends where you are and how experienced you are. You're not even guaranteed a raise.
I was able to receive a ~6.7% increase after my first 12 months. Going to look to negotiate higher this time around.
