I’m leaving PwC soon. I’ve worked there for 4.5 years. Any advice on what I should do with my PwC pension? What have other people done when starting new jobs?

I’m taking the lump sum and rolling it into a different retirement account. If you do it this way, you don’t pay any penalties or taxes. My firm gave me an estimate of what the pension will be worth if I leave it with them for the next 40 years, and the return was abysmal.

Pension?

For most firms, if you’re that junior, they’ll give you a lump sum of the PV of your benefits.

How much is it worth and what are the withdrawal penalties?

If you’re in the US, you probably aren’t getting a pension below partner. The Retirement Wealth Builder is similar to a 401k except only the firm contributes to it and you can either leave the vested portion where it is or roll it over the same way a 401k can be rolled over. If you’re outside the US and actually have a pension than I don’t know enough about the plan to comment.

No D1, a normal defined benefit pension plan in the US

Any moms at kpmg take maternity leave around the time when a salary increase should be taking place (e.g. start your leave mid-september when comp increases is expect in October)? Is it worth pushing off those 4 STD weeks before the due date to get yourself the new salary before going on leave? Any other ways to get the higher salary while on leave? Does it take effect if youre using pto and not the parental leave (maybe save your primary parental leave for a day later or something)?

Looking for some direction. Just finished paying off my law school debt. I'm 29 years old. $40k in taxable brokerage account, $15k emergency fund (3.5 months), $20k in 401k. In September I'm starting a new job that will pay me $200k which doubles my current salary. Will max my HSA, 401k etc. But should I be making Roth 401k contributions in this tax bracket?

Lucky that we are same gender (which I do think impacts closeness), that we are close in age, and just clicked like bffs. Have since met so many sibs with non existent and toxic relationships. More kids = more expense. After passing on genes and getting love of a child, why have more than one
