I’m new to insurance and starting to see how much impact we can have when clients really understand their coverage. It’s not just about selling a policy but helping people feel secure when life takes a turn. For those who’ve been around longer, what’s the best way you’ve found to explain complex coverage in a way that actually clicks with clients?

It really depends on the complaint or their concern. When customers repeatedly tell me they’ve never had a claim why is there coverage so high? I always say “OK I hear you saying that the coverage for this policy the cost is too high right? “That I say let’s talk about self ensuring. Now I was a manager in insurance so usually I’m dealing with a complaint you may not have the leeway that I did. But I go directly to not trying to be nosy, but what do your retirement accounts look like? Do you have umbrella insurance?

Then with those answers, I take them through one little scenario– I see you’re driving a 2021 Honda Accord. But you hit a 2024 Tesla, which hits another vehicle, another older model Honda. Now because you’ve caused this accident, you are responsible for both vehicles. How much do you think that damage is going to be? Let’s call it $10,000 each, can you afford that? And not trying to be sarcastic is that more or less $800 every six months?

Solid tips or strategies on cutting back on alcohol? My bf & I were moderate drinkers before the pandemic, but over the year I’m fairly confident we’ve become heavy drinkers (6-7days/wk). How does one tell their boss (owner of the company) that you are burnt out? In my organization, most with my role are commission based. I make a set salary due to the firm I work for as an account manager/ coordinator for clients… I coordinate their enrollments, working with each groups HR department as to benefits and payroll purposes, and schedule our benefit counselors accordingly. I am finding that in most cases where I compare the voluntary benefits industry, I might be underpaid. What is an appropriate base salary for a position in which commission is replaced?
