Hello fellow introverts! Instead of talking to people I have an Instagram account to shout my opinions about books into the void. Id love it if any of you would be willing to take a look and give me feedback on the reviews. I feel like they aren't quite at the level I'm aiming for.

Put that phone down and enjoy your vacation.
The company I work for actually has a policy specifically against checking emails in our off time and I still end up sneaking in to my email and catching myself up on the happenings because I am trying to keep my stress levels low on my vacation...and the anxiety of not knowing what is happening with my clients is not going to allow that...even if there's not good news, even if there's down right bad news in my emails, I find that my anxiety and stress goes down once I'm caught up on my emails, and I am better able to enjoy my vacation.
So yeah I checked my emails, and can totally relate.
yes im the same i need to know. I agree checking in allows me to relax more then not knowing and returning to total mayhem
I used to but then I realized that was not in my best interest. If I’m on vacation, I’m not working and should not be expected to.
I learned to disconnect while on vacation, I don't answer phone calls, check emails, or respond to recruiter calls. There is a time to work and a time to play! TIME and HEALTH are your most valuable asset! Good luck 👋
I do end up checking my emails while I’m on vacation that’s longer than a 4 day weekend. I don’t have a supervisor under me for the 5 billing members I have. We also have a third party billing company that I’m still unsure of. I like to stay on top of the billing here and not have any surprises when I return and stress myself out.
Yes all the time. I like to know what going on.
Yes the morning before breakfast and before dinner. It’s leadership. Less then being a leadership role just enjoy your vacation.
Sadly, it’s the good and bad thing about technology. Only you can control it. If upper management is requiring it, they may need to redefine PTO. AND you may need to weigh if your compensation is worth it. It directly impacts my income if I don’t keep a finger on ‘that pulse’.
I was on vacation and still working. Oh and that pay, came out of my pto even though I wouldn’t have been working that day.
We are discouraged from checking emails or doing computer training while away from work - if it is needed by the company, we are paid for our time.
I worked as a director in school nutrition and I felt like it was required to check my email during vacation. higher ups would often call me and email, expecting me to work even though I was on vacation. I think this was more of an issue with my district but I ended up leaving that job because I didn’t feel that was sustainable. I’ll now be working as a dietitian.
Doublededged sword. Come back to a mountain of emails or address the important stuff and leave the rest (or delete) the rest. IDK. I check,
no. I set the example for my team that when you are on vacation/PTO you should not be working. It is important to disconnect.
Nope
I used to, but no longer do. To help me disconnect, I have set "modes" on my phone that kicks in at specific time periods every day and hides all email notifications and any notifications from work related apps. This routine has helped my brain adjust and understand that there are boundaries and I no longer feel the need to open the work email app as much as I used to when I was able to see the notification alerts. Out of sight out of mind. I'll get back to everyone when "work mode" kicks in.
No! That is what vacations are for, you left the job behind for a week, stay away from it! This is your physical, emotional, and mental health break. Enjoy it!
Nope, don't care. When i'm on vacation, I'm on vacation. Otherwise what is the point of taking time off? Stop it. You are only creating stress for yourself. Vacation is supposed be time for relaxation!
