I think everyone's over social media.
Fishbowl is social media
I’m currently in social strategy but want to do something different.
Hey OP, I was an associate director of social strategy at my previous agency and I’m pivoting to overall brand strategy. It helps if, throughout your career, you’ve realized thinking in a singular channel “vacuum” isn’t the way to go about it. That outlook alone helped me get my new gig in overall brand strategy. If you have a belief in “integrated marketing” thinking, it will open doors as it did for me.
Think this might be an opportunity to get into full digital strategy. There’s a different suite of products you’ll be using on a daily basis, and maybe a continuing education course might help?

All media activations have similar threads... maybe different tools in how we pull insights, get the campaign live, etc. but having the experience of working with audience targeting across multiple platforms will set you up for success no matter what. Flex the strategic thinking/theorizing muscles.... you’ve already got what you need
How do you use the skills learned and pivot into general marketing ?
My bad. My brain converted your title to Associate Art Director. What are you interested in OP? It would help us to understand what your skills are and offer advice
Most of us in GM are skilled in ideation and large conceptual ideas that trickle down to multiple channels — TV, digital, social, experiential, etc... so it’s much easier for us to choose to focus on a specific channel such as social, than it is for someone in social to to go GM (most social activations are merely one-offs or extensions of a grander idea/ campaign created by GM). It would help if you took advertising classes that are focused on concepting
I don’t want to be a creative though.
