I'm planning a move back to the PNW after being in DC since 2015 (3 years in a nonprofit, 7 in private practice at a midsize firm). I'm hoping to shift away from private practice but if I can't find something, I've consulted with recruiters and feel (fairly) confident about finding a position with a firm when it's time. I'm super excited but the idea of starting over in a new jurisdiction and job is terrifying after all this time! Anyone else done a similar move? How'd it go?

Solos - how did you know when you were ready to hire a FT attorney?

I’m not designated a senior associate, but my small firm (boss, myself, and a paralegal) is hiring a recent grad. Still needs to pass the hazing ritual (aka bar exam). Let's talk unhinged pro se opposing parties. We have one that emails the entire firm every few days with these SCREEDS that are like weird stream of consciousness accusations of baseless criminal and unethical conduct. So far there have been 2 emails already today. A GAL has been appointed and ordered to do a psych eval on this party, but is there any sense in responding in the mean time? Everything we say seems to get twisted.
