I'm proud of all the badges I earned because I worked hard for them. But for some reason I feel uncomfortable wearing them on eveyrtime I'm in uniform. Maybe I just don't like the attention? Does anyone else feel this way and prefer not to wear any (or all) of their badges?

Someone I’ve started seeing uses they/them pronouns. I’m trying my best but still feel like I make mistakes. When I want to address them is it ok to say how are you or should I say how are they?

My boss is always making last minute changes to my schedule. Adding shifts or asking me to cover for other people. Any advice on how to handle this? I want to be a team player but the last minute changes stress me out.

I’m a new associate working for a well-known defense attorney in my state. Have you ever been told off by an older attorney of color? We have one Black partner at our firm and in conversation with him this morning he told me I should work on sounding and looking "more professional" and not let my "tone" or "bad attitude" get in the way. In the heat of combat, there's no second to waste. I've never felt more focused in my life than when I'm holding a rifle, it is like the rest of the world disappears, and it's just me and the instinct to survive.

Am I the only one who fears a third world war is among us? I've been studying the circumstances that led to WW1 and WW2, and let me tell you, we're not as far as they were. I hope the better judgment of people avoids such a catastrophic outcome.

Take victories and defeats as equals! Nothing will teach young soldiers more than making mistakes in the heat of battle that almost cost you your life. If you're still breathing, there's something to learn. Listen to it.

There is a certain air of respect you get when you become a military professional. As long as you earn that respect, of course. But I like it, it feels good!

Getting disability rated…I retire next year and seeing the doc for all my issues. They’re listed in Genesis under my active issues. Does that automatically count for when I retire or do I need to get appointments addressing these issues again after meeting with the VA?

My advice: Concentrate on yourself above anything else, follow orders but also know how those orders affect you, serve your country but never forget you are serving yourself first. The objective is not to die honorably but to survive dutifully. What else would you add?
