I'm proud of all the badges I earned because I worked hard for them. But for some reason I feel uncomfortable wearing them on eveyrtime I'm in uniform. Maybe I just don't like the attention? Does anyone else feel this way and prefer not to wear any (or all) of their badges?

It’s good to be humble about it. But it’s not as if you are showing them off. It’s all about your mindset. Wearing those badges can be a conversation started for a junior enlisted who has questions about earning that badge. Or it might show senior enlisted you are serious about your career. It’s the intangible aspects of earning those badges that may get you noticed, highlighted for an award or even in the back of someone’s mind when it comes to promotion.

I agree. I am proud that I earned them but I am modest about earning them.

I could use some advice on this situation. I’ve been working for a small family owned business in Toronto Canada for about 4months. I’ve noticed a lot of unprofessional behaviour since I’ve started (yelling at workers infront of customers) I’ve bounced around different positions so much that the owner blames 98% of stuff on me when something isn’t done, even if it’s not my responsibility anymore.A week ago I asked for an employment contract to get this straight but nothing yet. What do I do?

- I am 18 YOE with a technically strong background
- Upper mgmt is starting to identify me as the backup for all systems. My manager tries to move me out since then

I’m a new associate working for a well-known defense attorney in my state. On one hand, I’m thankful for the opportunity to learn from one of the best, but he also excoriates and belittles me for my mistakes. Any advice on how much it tolerable? I am here to learn and advance my career but he can be pretty nasty. (My mistakes are no worse than you’d expect a 1st year associate to make, in case you’re all wondering if I’m a major screw-up who deserves it) I leave work feeling a foot tall.

This executive I support has given me an e-gift card for the 3rd time in the past 5 months. Each gift card is $300.

I had already told him monetary awards were not necessary as the "thank-you" and words of appreciation were enough for me.

Is it normal to receive such large monetary awards? I think 50~100 is acceptable

Have you ever been told off by an older attorney of color? I don't think I've ever had a bad attitude at work, and whatever "tone" I'm speaking in it's my normal one. As a Black woman I just feel super weird about it and kind of sad.

I am an associate at a UMM and my employment contract has a 4 month non compete (yes, even for associates) but I am thinking of lateraling. What are the implications of breaking a non compete? I didn’t say anything when I signed because I was desperate for a PE offer but it seems so unfair as I am just a lowly associate. I am not so much worried about getting sued, but about my current employer tanking my reputation if I leave and break the non compete.
