Thought this was interesting. Across 160 teams of researchers, just about all failed to make good life outcome predictions on things like GPA, evictions, layoffs, and others. Data followed 4.5k families across 15 years, with 13k features (varied over time). Haven't looked at it directly yet, but will be turning the docs and data inside out... In the meantime, authors claim this as showing the limits of ML. Oh, and it's published in PNAS, so you know there's some big publication energy there.

I would say helpful. Back in the day, I had an unreliable car and we couldn’t call out. That got you fired. So I absolutely had to take a taxi (yeah, before Uber was everywhere). These days I’m always willing to pick some one up or drop them off. Work probably needed you, I don’t understand why the assumption is creepy. I hate to think people think that of me when I wished I had someone to drive me back when, instead of having to pay.
This shouldn’t be viewed as creepy. Your jump to that is for lack of any other word — strange. Your manager has a business to run. You are part of running that business. Maybe look at the situation through this lens. Business is a wheel. You are an employee that is a cog in that wheel. Doesn’t run as efficiently without you. Be grateful management is willing to go to such lengths as to make sure you get to work.
Legit l🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sounds like you have a nice manager. Most wouldn’t offer an assistance and still expect you to show up regardless of whether it’s cost effective for you.

I think it's helpful. If he's generally creepy, maybe?
Creepy is what HR is for.
You better have gone to work. Ive picked up multiple coworkers when they've had car/ride issues. It's not creepy.
I have picked people up several times and taken them home when they were done. As a general manager, you have to do inconvenient things to have the site work as a whole. I will say one addisional thing. If taking an Uber to work is a temporary thing, you might just take one for the team and take it today. Your effort to get to work will benefit your career in the long run. it will be worth more than the few dollars you will be short.
This is why I don't offer to help anyone
ya i feel you i have been burnt by it too.
Helpful!
That’s great shows your boss you are dedicated don’t think it as creepy think of it as great.
As a manager, I now know to mark employees absent and move on with the day. Thanks for the insight.
lol mark them absent, what are you a school teacher? lol
Helpful. A) he probably cant afford to be down an employee and B) definitely think hes just being nice. He couldve said come in or you are getting written up , or worse
I think that is very nice of him. It isn't creepy. He needs you to work your shift.
helpful
Helpful because he don't want to do your work lol
I’d say use you best judgment, they are wanting to help you out. If it’s really coming off in a creepy vibe just pick up the tone. I had a creepy manager not long ago I won’t get into details but I felt really uncomfortable. I left the job a while ago and still don’t have a car. My new manager offers me rides home so I can save on uber, he is really kind hearted and genuinely wants to help out. Trust yourself!!
Thats cool. I love my co-workers and SM. Ive had car trouble before. They all have helped me out of a bind.
Helpful. He could figure it out, but you couldn't.
This was a very helpful offer from your Boss, and it didn't seem weird in any way.
Helpful I think.
Sounds like (maybe is) an entitled millenial. Lol
I think that is very helpful and signs that you work for a very good boss.
Yeah to think it’s creepy is a bit odd. I mean he wanted his shift covered but also wanted to ensure you made your paycheck. Honestly, it was very thoughtful and generous. I always offer to pick my team members up if they have car troubles… u less they are trying to get out of working then they won’t take the ride usually.
