Does JPMorgan entertain counter offers ?
I have an offer of 18.5 lpa including bonus.
At the time of HR discussion, I was under the impression that this will be 18.5 fixed + bonus
I already have 19.5 fixed CTC offer from Emids and Indegene is ready to pay 23 lpa including joining Bonus.
I am keen to join JP morgan but I want to negotiate the offered CTC.
During HR discussion, HR said they'll not entertain any counter offers later on

Everyone gets the 16 weeks paid leave plus your short term disability. You also get to pick one of four medela pumps. The firm pays to ship your pumped milk home on dry ice. The offices are outfitted with numerous wellness rooms and pumping supplies. You get lactation counseling. 30 days on back up daycare annually
You should get.
My wife did this and hey gave her the full maternity leave... now coming back after that’s a whole different ballgame that can be discussed
There's no tenure requirement for the paid family leave. A colleague joined about 7 months ago and is now out on family leave.
Agree with M1. I didn’t disclose I was pregnant when I took a new position, but disclosed shortly after I started. I was only 14 weeks along, started in November and gave birth the following May. Lacking FMLA protection had an effect on my benefits. They didn’t offer paid leave of any kind (small firm), so I had 6 weeks of short term disability and then had to go back before I had to start paying COBRA prices for my medical insurance. I would just say, “I’d love to join your firm, but would like to defer my acceptance of the offer until after my parental leave is over”. If you really want to move there and they really want you, it’s a win-win. You don’t have to worry about benefits and they don’t have to worry about you being out right away. If you just got the offer, you won’t even be onboarding for at least 2-3 weeks, maybe a month. By that time it’s late August and you’re due in September? It seems silly to switch jobs and lose FMLA status. If they want you now, they’ll still want you in 6 months.
Thanks D2. Is this regardless of tenure? At PwC I have to work 12 months or 2000 hours
Deloitte benefits ftw!
Well she got the paid leave but job protection is a different story... make sure you take fmla in conjunction with your leave (you legally can do it at the same time despite what HR will tell you).
PwC just enhance the family leave benefit in FY19. Full pay for 8 weeks, then STD at 60% for 12 weeks I think. Then there’s the phased return where I think you come back at 60% time but 100% pay for four weeks. The communication around this change sucked. I saw a brief mention about it with no details on a couple of calls so I emailed my HR person for details.
Also, to qualify for FMLA you must have worked 1250 hrs in the first 12 months of employment. Even if Deloitte give you full leave, be sure to ask how much your medical benefits will cost. I joined one firm in November 2014, and gave birth in May, 2015. I did not qualify for FMLA, and so could only take < 8 weeks of leave even though STD would have paid for 12 weeks because if I stayed out longer I would have had to go on COBRA for my medical insurance. FMLA basically keeps your employers paying their portion of your insurance premiums while you are in the FMLA protection period.
I mean you were almost 5 months along at the beginning of interviews, not like you just found out. I personally would ask before signing on the dotted line... if you go through a whole interview process knowing you will be taking off that’s kind of bad from the hiring perspective bc they are counting on you to staff immediately not knowing you’re going to be out.
Secondarily, if I’m you I want to know if I’ll get my leave, if not then why would you leave your current job? Time home with your child is so important.
M1 that actually doesn’t make sense. There’s no obligation to disclose. Plus a person can get pregnant while on project as well. If a company expects people to not have babies because of a project that’s dumb. I’m sure they know that women usually have kids and plan accordingly
Any idea what I’ll get? I know regular is 6 months paid but I wouldn’t have been there for more then 4 months maybe
Thanks M1. Can you tell me what your wife got? In terms of paid leave and total leave with job protection ?
What do you mean by going back was a whole different ballgame? Was she given a hard time?
Thanks D3. Some places you need to work 1 year to qualify for FMLA. or at least that’s the legal requirement... you can only get fmla if you worked 1 year
A1 not to turn this into a who's better contest but FYI we have the exact same benefits plus a priority mechanism (practice chargeability exceptions) for getting staffed locally up to 12 months after coming back from a parental leave
My issue is that I will be joining in August and am due end of September, so I’ll be there for less than 2 months and that’s what worries me
Did you bring this up at all during your recruitment? Did you ask them at all?
No because my interview process started in May, radio silence till July, and I got a call last week to tell me I got the job & offer letter should be coming this week. I didn’t want to say anything until I had an offer letter in hand, but I didn’t know it was going to take this long!?!
It’s not dumb op. Companies hire experienced people based on availability... the reason your offer took 2 months to come through was they now have an engagement to staff you on. I mean I’m all for parental leave trust me (both my wife and I take it). I’m just saying maybe the way you’re going about starting at a new firm isn’t the best with starting for a month and then leave with no notice to new firm.
