I’m talking with a recruiter and she is saying the base is $150,000 with $175K in equity. I have never worked in Private so I’m not exactly sure what that means. I am assume if it’s a 4 year vest my annual total comp would be approximately $190K ish?

it depends on the company / offer letter, but it's generally 4 year vesting, so yes $190K total comp sounds about right.

Ask about performance bonus or incentive inequity too (in addition to equity offered at signing)

like

Well the plan should be that the equity value goes up

For private companies, how does equity appreciate (or does it)?

You have to do your due diligence. Some private companies (tech startups) don't really have much of a market until they go public. So the equity is only on paper because you can't easily liquidate. But it does change everytime they get raise money. Your equity is "repriced" at the new valuations. Established private companies should spell out how you can/must liquidate the equity and how they will value each share.

Considering a design lead role in industry, what salary range should I expect/ask for? For context, I have more than 6 years of experience (mix of industry and consulting).

I've been out of accounting for about 2 years because I decided to move to another country for life experiences. I will be moving back mid 2022 with my fiance and will go back to Audit most likely. My firm said they would gladly take me back when I left. If i was making 65k as a senior 2 years ago is it reasonable to ask for 72k and a 10k signing bonus even with a 2 year break? Would it be more reasonable if I went to a different firm instead? How much do you think is reasonable?

I’m thinking of throwing 1/3 of the $10k into BTC, 1/3 into ETH, and the rest into alts (I’m thinking MATIC and AMP). Current portfolio is BTC, ETH, and OMG. Any suggestions you all have would be appreciated!

See a lot of comp posts from consultants - have any of you considered enterprise technology sales? Certainly a different job that requires different knowledge/skills but I see parallels/ think a consultant could do well in sales if they’re okay with a lot of rejection. The pay seems similar (my OTE is about 400k; 8 YoE, individual contributor) but I imagine the hours are better and it can be fun if you like solving customer problems, to challenge customers, and building relationships

I've a question on what sections to put on a regular resume. I see some people are using consulting style resume for outside companies as well. Do you think it's a good idea to devide work experience by projets? Or is it better to have "projects highlights" separate from work experience.. something like: intro>functional expertise> project highlights>work experience>education?

Does anybody have a view on the growth path / trajectory for a Strategy and Ops Lead? I didn't get a very clear sense in my interviews, esp. because it feels like there is 1 manager for the team and so there is not a lot of scope for organic upward movement. Is it only through lateral moves within the org? You get enough tenure for the next role then find an opp to switch?

Legit question: now that 90% of you all don’t have an expense account or travel, why are you doing consulting? Wlb and pay are shit, professional dev opps are good but can be developed in 2-3 years - so why not leave after

Hi everyone! I recently accepted a new job with a Big 4 and am also newly engaged. I have a couple of concerns… the main one being that I may not have enough time off for 2022 to cover taking off for the wedding, honeymoon, and then a couple of other weddings where I’m supposed to be a bridesmaid. Do you think there would be any wiggle room with managers allowing time off, or is it generally pretty strict? (Continued in comments)
