I think it’s great that you are proud of who you are becoming … it’s been a process and I think sometimes you don’t give ourselves enough credit in progress. Continue to focus on your personal self development and allow experience to be your greatest teacher. It’s not necessary to go back to school within the system but it is necessary to give the universe your attention and know that diligence is due in all moves you make.
Honestly, you can start in just about any business and work your way up. I've heard of people who started working in restaurants and worked their way up into a management role that make over $100K/yr. As long as you work hard and show you want to improve/grow, you will be headed in the right direction. Just make sure that you are somewhat passionate/interested in whatever you choose because you don't want to be miserable in what you're doing.
Thank you for your comment! I’ve heard of people doing similar as well. Like my mother in law starting as a file clerk at a hospital, and 7 years later she was the manager of medical staff with 130k salary.. maybe that would be the best route.
Going back to school could be a good option for you, but it's important to consider the cost and time commitment involved. You may want to explore community college or vocational programs that offer shorter-term certificate or diploma programs, which can be more affordable and provide specific skills training for in-demand careers.
Since I’ve been out of school so long now, I was thinking of starting at community college so if I need any remedial classes it wouldn’t cost quite as much.
I haven’t considered vocational school. Thank you for your advice! Gave me more to think about.
Go get a job as an SDR and work your way up from there? Good luck!!
What’s a SDR??
If you want to go back to school and are comfortable on your current income level for now (meaning you could deal with it for another couple years) then Starbucks pays for ASU and you'd probably make about the same per year. Not as glamourous but is a very good program
Tbh I don't know the ins and outs but I do know people have done it and it kept them debt free so I think being a slave to big daddy sbux for a few years ends up being worth it 🤣
Hi there, YES it is.definitely worth it for you to consider going back to school, especially still in your 20s. You have plenty of time to do that & plenty of time to figure out what you might like. I have lived in the Phoenix area about 25 years and have had several different career type jobs, each 5 to 10 years span. I now am looking into hospitality/hotel/resort/spa jobs because there are many options around here in that industry and there are several local colleges that offer degrees in those careers. I love travel and inspiring people to travel and visit different locales, so it feels like a good fit to me. I also intend that when I get to be retirement age (many years away yet) I want to work part time in a library or bookstore, because I am a writer and I love books! I don't really see myself "retiring" officially until maybe 80 because I plan to fill up the rest of my life with enjoyable adventures. In other words, take the time to figure out what really jazzes you up in regards to some kind of vocation you could do that you would most enjoy doing. My ideal vocation is to be a fiction book author, but I have other career areas I like that monetarily could supplement my desire to write books. It is important to be practical about what vocation you choose in regards to making sure you have enough money for the kind of lifestyle you want. However so far my work life experience has been quite significant changes in the employment landscape that are totally different from what I imagined in my early mid 20s and when I graduated college. So be prepared and aware, some jobs or vocations now may or may not exist in 5 to 10 years or could evolve into something else. I have a Bachelor's degree double major in Mass Communication and English, so my writing and communication skills are transferable pretty much everywhere. Other vocations such as trade schools can be good if you want to do something that is likely to be around and needed whether it is 5 or 10 to 20 years from now. However I wouldn't worry about that because it is more important to develop people skills so no matter what happens with the type of jobs available over the years, you can always find something. Hope this helps and Good Luck! :)
Im a college drop out but it depends on what you want to do. There are many trades out there that you can do, and as others mentioned working your way up the ladder can be a great path too.
