I’m thinking about making a move from NYC to London. How do I meet new people/make friends now that work is mostly WFH? I visited London last fall and fell in love

Similarly to anywhere else in the world, pursue your interests and hopefully you come across like minded individuals. London has so many people in the same boat, both coming from international or national geographies, so I think it shouldn’t be too difficult! (There’s normally quite a few people on here too!)

Most places in London aren’t going to be WFH much longer (mine is already back full time). I moved from the US to London a few years ago and the moment you tell people you’re moving here, everyone knows somebody who lives here and they start connecting you and then you make friends. The ex pat community is generally quite welcoming. The culture of your firm also plays a big role. Was super fortunate to have an awesome group of coworkers and none of us work at the same place anymore but all still good friends. It takes effort but it’s not too daunting.

Most places are now operating a hybrid model. My office has got as working as much as we want between home and office. Most people choose 2 at home and 3 in office.

WFH is now much less used vs 2021, most people go 3 days p/w, 4 days probably from march so I wouldn't be too worried about that.

Can you help me make the switch to the US

i’m in a pickle i have a job where the work is okay, but i cannot stand my coworkers. there’s been so much undermining and rudeness that, even though we’re in a slower slow time, i have so much built up resentment i still don’t like my job. i also don’t like the permanently remote nature of the job (wasn’t remote when i joined), and feel like im getting pigeon-held into low value work (compliance, provision, fixed assets etc.) am i reacting too emotionally for wanting to leave?

Hey comrades. My agency (independent agency in Chicago, not CIMA) is looking for a talented ACD/AD to primarily work on Porsche. We handle US creative across all channels. If you’re in Chicago or looking to get into the market, this is a solid opportunity. This will be a remote opportunity until the fall (so far as we know). We’d like to prioritize POC talent with automotive/luxury brand experience and solid design chops. Hit me with a direct message if you’re interested.

I have been applying to jobs nonstop and honestly feel so disheartened. I have my MBA with a healthcare management concentration and I even had my resume professionally done. I have almost 4 years total healthcare experience with the last almost 2-2 1/2 years in management. I am ready for a change and looking for a remote job, preferably in healthcare/project/program management. I am even open to entry level healthcare IT. Would appreciate any help!

What do staff want and what would make them happy? This is a serious question. I have been in public for 25 years. I swear I feel like a mom and therapist as much as a professional. I truly care about my staff. Treat then well, fight for them, invest in their futures. But the last few years it seems like nothing is enough. I am seriously considering early retirement because it is so emotionally draining on me. So many younger staff in here and all I see is complaints. Am I alone?

I recently launched two remote Airbnb rentals (duplex) and booked $15k of stays for March and April. Does anyone have any operational advice? Did not expect it to blow up like it has. I’ve smart outfitted the home with Nest and am using Hospitable and Pricelab. Also have a decent cleaner who’s dependable.

Does FANGG allow for fully remote positions? What kind of roles can I get with a background in IP litigation?

Honestly don't understand why people are so opposed to going into the office. Is this because you think spending 20-60 min commuting each way costs you billables? Personally I need separation between work and home. It helps my mental health but the anger I see in some posts about having to go to the office is strange to me.

While most teachers are protected by teacher unions, I feel my voice hasn’t been heard at all with my concerns of going back to school next week. Our diocese has decided on full return 5 days/ week for all 42 schools despite a recent increase in COVID in our communities. Every other school that I know of in my state is either choosing remote learning to start the year or a hybrid approach, yet that was not an option for us. Are other Catholic schools I. The same boat? Stay safe!

Hi! Currently working at Perforce Software in Minneapolis as a writer making 70k. Was offered a job to be a writer at Amazon Alexa for 95k plus 11k sign on and shares. Here’s the catch: the job was listed as fully remote but now they’re asking if I’d want to move out on the West Coast. My husband will be relocating to NYC for his job which is where I want to go…working West Coast hours in NYC sounds kind of awful. BUT I really don’t want to live in Seattle…any advice?

Hello! I'm on west coast & a possible job opportunity I'm interested in works east coast hours. Company prides themselves on being remote & having talent everywhere. Thoughts on ways to directly ask about their expectations on work hours (i.e. requiring every1 to be logged on at X time vs. flexibility, knowing there may be outliers like meetings, etc.?) Regardless of me not being a morning person, I would hope there is a shared feeling that those expectations might not be sustainable.

would you move back in with your parents if you were fully remote? i earn 90K and am in 24k student loan debt currently paying $1650 in rent. i’m 26f but honestly at this point it’s starting to feel a little silly not to move home and pay $600 in their property tax while i save aggressively. i’m just worried about giving up my independence but it seems a little nonsensical at this point—what would you do in my situation?

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE working form home full time. However, I have noticed I feel less relaxed after work and I think it might be because I don't have that time commuting home to listen to audiobooks and decompress. How do you 'leave work at work' when you have a home office?

Company : Hey take this money and buy an office chair, table ,extra monitors, accessories to setup your home office. Me : Hey! Thanks. Company : Are you now comfortable working from home and feel productive ? Me : Yeah. Company: Awesome! Now come back to your base location and spend majority of your time working from a rented place where you will miss both Working from home and working from office.

How do you find it, breakdown of strategy vs implementation projects, what roles do you usually get on projects, what's work life balance like, typical duration of engagements? If you’re still asking the question “why do you want this job” or “why do you want to work for this company” you shouldn’t be interviewing…I mean that’s just you asking for the candidate to feed you BS…we all need money to survive and that is why the person usually wants the job - it’s pretty obvious…no?
