If it’s a good small firm, then yes. If they’re micromanagers/greedy then no. I’ve only worked for small firms (less than 10 lawyers) and the good ones are awesome. I wouldn’t practice any other way. However, the bad are the pits.
From you limited post I wonder how much you know about the people and the work. This is a major decision and you should have as many conversations as needed to get comfortable with partners and the work.
For someone who came from big firms to small, make sure they dont lie about their set up.
I now how to renegotiate my commission because i was led tk believe i could make 175k, they told me they had 40+ litigation files id get, and endless presuit.
Turns out they have 20 litigation cases and not that much presuit.
I asked up front too .... sad
Ask about their support staff. Annoying to go from having a paralegal or lit assistant to doing everything yourself (or having incompetent help)
Ugh this.... "we have a paralegal of 25 yrs to help you" .....find out this is her second job and doesnt listen to shit or calendar
